All Corrado Samco Hose Kit - 25% OFF

Recommended Posts

so what's the latest, when are we ordering these? cheers

I'm ready to order now but there seems to be a few issues that I don't have the answers to yet regarding fitting other Corrado's apart from the VR6. Apparently the G60 kit is for LHD cars but will fit with a bit of modification. I've also been asked about a G60 with air conditioning. Also it seems that for the 16v 9a engine you can use the kit for the 16v Mk2 Golf. The thing is I can't guarantee any of this if Samco won't.

If we can't get the guy's without a VR6 kit sorted then we don't have 10 therefore the discount will be 25%. This means that a couple more guys are out because they will only buy if there is 10 or more to get the 30% discount.

Hopefully I will have definitive answers to all the above issues sorted by Friday, either way.

I've contacted a few G60 owners and am commiting to the purchase. It seems as if there are 2 hoses that need to be cut shorter. I should be able to handle that. LHD to RHD shouldn't be a problem, didn't really think it would be in the first place, good to find out though.

Maybe worth getting the thread moved to the main group buy sub-forum would help attract more interest, if it's needed?

If G60jaime is in then doesn't that mean there are 9 people in regardless of the 30% stragglers....? (Yes, I'm including myself in those stragglers!)

Thus, if I join we have 10 definites and are good to go - presumably Timbo and Tandino will then come in too making us a giddy dozen.

Am I right or am I wrong..? :norty:

Yes, you're right :D

I've spoken to James at amber performance today & he suggested that we call them individually & give them our details on what we want as well as our payment details. As Jaime said their number is 0845 260 0015. Mention to them that you're part of this GB and give your forum name so as to be eligible for the discount. Friday the 15th will be the deadline date when he counts up how many we have & how much discount we will get. After that they will take payments & order what they don't have in stock & post out to us individually as soon as they come in. I'll be calling them tomorrow to give them my details and it would be good if everyone has this done before next Friday.

Regarding the fitments for the 16v 9a etc. he said that each customer needs to know their requirements as they (Amber) don't know about all the different Corrado variations. The reason they can give us such good discount is because we (forum members) can usually sort out between us what is needed for each car.

So that's it for now, as the numbers are so tight I guess we are all depending on each other to honour our word

I'm not sure what you mean manps... They shouldn't have taken your payment yet. They are only supposed to take your details & take the payments out next Friday.

On the first post of this thread the price quoted of £255.25 was copied & pasted from an email that 'amber performance' sent me. Did you mention the Group Buy because the price you paid is too much? If not I'm sure we'll get it sorted

Ok, just been on the phone to Lee at Amber Performance to sort a few things out. Basicially he told me that the original price he gave me (see first post) is +VAT. I explained to him that he quoted me a 'retail price' of £255.25. We then had a discussion on the meaning of retail price. For me the definition of Retail Price is; 'The price an item is sold for in a store to the public' (same as selling price). In other words VAT is already included.

Anyway to cut a long story short Amber are now telling me that the cost of the VR6 kit will be £202.93 and the matching clip set will be £21.86 + postage.

Lee tried to explain to me that there has been a misunderstanding somewhere but believe me there is no misunderstanding, just a mistake with the original price that Amber sent me. Thankfully I have the message he sent to back it up (which I copied & pasted in the first post of this thread)

The price is irrelavant to me as I'm getting a kit anyway but I'm interested to hear your thoughts...

:?

I smell a bit of a rat to be honest in that I suspect they didn't expect you'd be able to get 10 people together and are now making up stories to claw back the saving they offered. If you check out their eBay shop they're selling Corrado VR6 kits for £246.95 + £4.95 p&p....(30% off that would be c. £175) and there's no way that's plus VAT. My immediate reaction is to tell them to go forth and multiply, but it's still a reasonable discount and I'm aware I'd be cutting off my nose to spite my face... Guess I need to decide if I fancy a smaller nose or not - think I'll sleep on it...

I phoned earlier tonight and haven't heard anything yet i am guessing that is because he was trying to sort it out with you lot!

The Samco price list lists the RHD Corrado VR6 at 246.73. Add VAT and you get 289.91. Take 30% off this and you get 202.93, which is what they're now asking. So that all makes sense. What doesn't make sense is that they're not charging the inc VAT price if you buy off ebay, which means they're either being naughty with regards to Mr. tax man, or they're confused about the Samco price list and undercharging. Anyway...

If you take the RHD Golf VR6 price of 217.24 and add VAT, you get 255.25, which is what they originally quoted. So it looks to me like they've just made an arse of things and quoted for the wrong kit in the first place! I guess you could argue that the whole group buy thing came about on the back of that quote and they should honour it, but it's hardly legally binding. It's a bit disappointing that they didn't acknowledge their error though. Trying to put it down to VAT quite literally doesn't add up... If they're not going to budge on the new price I'm also going to give it a bit of thought :(.

I'll let Miss Marple get to bed now.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Perhaps you could suggest they split the difference between their original quote and the latest one i.e. halfway between 255.25 and 289.91, so 272.58 ish. Minus 30% = 190.80. I reckon most folk would be happy with that?

That depends on what you guys want me to do. We all seem to be thinking along the same lines & I think your suggestion on splitting the difference is a good option to try.

Yep, I could go for Timbo's logic - if they make some sort of concession to at least move towards the eBay price then that would seem a little more gracious on their part.

... I'd still like to know their explanation of the eBay price though
