eugopnosaj 0 Posted September 15, 2010 Ok so i was looking at possibly building a car pc when i came across this http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/11/forum-find-custom-mr2-with-the-ultimate-car-puter/. This guy has converted the entire MR2 gauge cluster, switches, dials, knobs, you name it, to a series of three touch screen displays. It controls and reads temps, fuel, lights, windows, mirrors, speed, navigation, music, climate control...and so on...

Veearrhsix 0 Posted September 15, 2010 So where do you put the ignition key? Still has a steering wheel so it can't be that good.

eugopnosaj 0 Posted September 15, 2010 What happens if the pc crashes? Assume they were sensible and didnt use windows as a base I think a lot of the standalone carputer OS' are linux based, i think this would probably be something similar as it's easier to write for linux... The majority of Windows crashes are caused by piss-poor third-party applications and drivers. Since there's a mention of VB in the article I'd assume the whole thing is built on a Windows platform.
