Ultimate In car PC

Recommended Posts

Ok so i was looking at possibly building a car pc when i came across this http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/11/forum-find-custom-mr2-with-the-ultimate-car-puter/.

This guy has converted the entire MR2 gauge cluster, switches, dials, knobs, you name it, to a series of three touch screen displays. It controls and reads temps, fuel, lights, windows, mirrors, speed, navigation, music, climate control...and so on...

What happens if the pc crashes? Assume they were sensible and didnt use windows as a base

I think a lot of the standalone carputer OS' are linux based, i think this would probably be something similar as it's easier to write for linux...

I agree. The majority of Windows crashes are caused by piss-poor third-party applications and drivers. Since there's a mention of VB in the article I'd assume the whole thing is built on a Windows platform.
