SamG40 0 Posted January 20, 2012 Just got a very good quote from Peter James. Can I assume that because you have european breakdown cover the policy covers you to drive in europe? I know on a friends classic policy it doesnt.
owen g60 10 Posted January 20, 2012 Just contacted HIC as they were listed as a good bet... they beat footman james by £10 and accepted all the mods :)
robrado974 1 Posted January 20, 2012 if there is a company willing to offer classic insurance to modified Corrados, I know a ton of people would be up for it. Mine is on a classic policy with mods ,with performance direct , they beat every quote every year i renew .
VWVW 1 Posted January 20, 2012 Guys...My Classic car policy does not allow me to drive to and from work which is fine for me as the corrado is my second car. Is this the same for everyone else that is on Classic car policies.
Dollyman 10 Posted January 20, 2012 Might be worth trying RH Specialist. I've got all my Triumphs with them. Work out at £90 per car! Ok I'm old enough to pass almost any age criterion but my GF has also found them cheapest for her work car! Cheers Jeff
Portent 0 Posted May 14, 2012 Just got a quote from Footman James for £456, Surrey postcode, all mods declared, 5k mileage and an agreed valuation. But must be garaged and SDP only (no commuting - not a problem for me). I'm not sure what everyone else does to get their so low. Mind you I've only just started calling around. Annoyingly with my current insurer I had believed I was on a limited mileage policy (they certainly quoted verty different prices for 3k, 5k and 7km mileage). So I've been trying not to use the car as much and I've just found out I'm not actually on a limited mileage at all. Grrrr.
wafers 0 Posted June 25, 2012 I'm mid 30's and am toying with a VR I've spotted. My NCB is used on my daily. Anyone suggest which company to go for a policy on the Rado - I'll be looking at coilovers, SS exhaust but that's about it. I'm hoping to find one in the £200's, no higher ideally? Jim 2 Posted June 25, 2012 Give Footman James a call... if you think you'll be no more than 4,000 miles a year you should be in with a good shout :)
Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted June 27, 2012 Is this a good time to mention I ensure the Audi 3.2 for £342 full comp, protected no claims (11yrs), 8k miles a year, driveway, Surrey postcode, SDP + commute. No?? Oh, ok... ;) (It pays to be in your 30s with lots of no claims and a standard car, albeit 245bhp Quattro beast!)
Jim 2 Posted June 27, 2012 I insure my Octavia VRS for similar money mate :) As you say.. getting old does have some perks.. eventually..
VR6 0 Posted June 28, 2012 "car must be garaged at night". seems both companies have clauses to their very cheap premiums! I've just phoned Peter D James on Kip's advice and they seemed ok with the fact that the Golf won't be garaged. I think it depends on the postcode though as mine is one of the best seeing as though I'm on the Rock. Sounds like I will get a quote but not sure what yet. ---------- Post added at 2:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 2:16 PM ---------- £195 for the year ... not too shabby! It beats Admiral by about £60. Thanks Kip :salute:
KIPVW 0 Posted June 28, 2012 No worries Tom, i was just about to say to folk please give Peter D James a call and you have just mentioned them  My VR was re-insured with them earlier this month for £267 with a 3k limit and £12k agreed value :) My Nugget too this week for a peanuts £158 with unlimited mileage and 6k agreed value. I like Peter D James I do :)
Jim 2 Posted June 28, 2012 They wouldn't insure me I don't think - I don't think they take modifications of any sort :(
KIPVW 0 Posted June 28, 2012 Really Jim? i think a few have mentioned they have gone with them that have a few mods.
