16VG60 1 Posted March 21, 2011 I would be happy with a plinth as part of the moulding as 8vMatt proposes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
coullstar 0 Posted March 21, 2011 Could be interested. Having picked one up they are a lardy piece. Would also stop the dreaded rust as well. Would be good to find a supplier for plexi rear window as well but at the same time it would be good to retain the heated window.

There is a link to someone making corrado plexi glass parts (Ill dig it out later on). I, like you wish to keep the heated element thought. Even without the glass, the boots still weigh alot! Ill put you down then coullstar. Once I've hit ten, Ill get a proper quote and get back to you all.
onestep 0 Posted March 21, 2011 I spoke to Mike a while ago about this. I'm up for this.

16VG60 1 Posted March 21, 2011 Looking great now guys, this proposed group buy on Corrado carbon fibre rear hatch is so close now for all of us. Big thanks to you Sam for heading up this move. All we need now is just two more takers for this limited offer opportunity. Come on don't miss out, the price to buy this high quality bespoke component is unlikely to be this good again. blue95 0 Posted March 22, 2011 B*****ks! and the curse the lot of you!!!! Put me down as intrested! any chance of discount on a bonnet as well (not the race spec one!)
16VG60 1 Posted March 22, 2011 Not wanting to steal Sam's fire here but knowing Mike, the owner of Performance Trim, I am sure he would be inclined to offer bonnets at a discounted price to those who support this group buy for carbon rear hatch. The important thing here is to secure the rear hatch deal, and that done, the add on purchases can be negotiated. Others have expressed the desire for bonnets as well, so I am sure Mike will be happy to look favourably upon additional sales on existing product lines. 16VG60 1 Posted March 24, 2011 Ok folks this is becomming unbareable! All we need is one more forum member to take up this offer so that we can all proceed toward the final order. Just ONE more! Come on, there are hundreds of owners out there, alot of which are all out performance petrol heads. Power to weight is the name of the game, and fantastic state of the art composite panel construction will help that all the way. Go on humour me, and treat yourself to a carbon hatch you know it makes sense :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

quicky1980 0 Posted March 28, 2011 Just spoke to Mike and he said he was going to pop onto here and answer questions directly, great news as it saves me going back and forth so often. Here are some questions I've picked up over the time of having this thread going: Will they be made with or without rear wiper holes? Will the raised part of the wiper hole be included? Will the rear plynth be fitted as normal (ie seperate item) or would it be integrated into the boot to effectively make one piece? How do we move this forward? Do we need to pay in full first or will a deposit be needed? Will the spoiler operate as normal? How much will they cost So we should be able to get this rolling relatively quickly. Would it be poss to confirm if there would be a discount available on the CF bonnet as well? Cheers
bobsinclare 0 Posted March 28, 2011 i may be interested, im in Eire would shipping be possible? also do they do Late Wings in CF (Vr6)
C488ADO 0 Posted March 29, 2011 Looking at some of the questions I'd have to say Still a go for me if It doesn't have the rear wiper hole and the raised bit isn't there but I personally would have to have the number plate plinth separate as all in one would look totally gash I like carbon products don't get me wrong but I also like to try and retain the original look
16VG60 1 Posted March 29, 2011 For my part, and in response to the questions posted, this is what i would choose: 1. No rear wiper hole or raised mounting point, as rear wiper is a redundant issue with the raked screen angle. 2. With the plinth i am happy to go with the popular view of making it a separate entity, giving all the choice of deleting it totally. 3. The OE spoiler mechanism and operation must fit as was in the steel hatch. Mike has allready made for me a Carbon rear wing which is readily available to all now. 4. The OEM locking latches and mechanism must fit into the carbon replacement hatch and function as was. 5. I am entirely happy to pay half the totall sum as a deposit. In answer to some of the other questions you guys have raised, Mike will send any of his products to foreign destinations for the additional carriage cost involved. Mike does not currently offer any composite construction wings for the Corrado, but that is not to say never. If another group buy was organised or to roll off the back of this one i would certainly support it for the late style wings. Indeed Mike has a pair of VR6 wings at the ready for moulds to be taken. Regarding discounts on additional purchases ie bonnets, Mike is receptive to the principal but alot will depend upon the individual merits of that persons overall purchase value. The cost of these rear hatches is, as a guidline, going to fall in line with the equivalent composite construction bonnet from Performance Trim, which given the work involved in manufacture is excellent value for money. 16VG60 1 Posted April 2, 2011 Any more news on here? After the long haul to get 10 guys interested would be good to get some confirmation on the order item spec, cost and deposits in place to secure production asap. Don't want folks getting bored or despondant about the purchase and having to start over again. Sam, I will send Mike message to hopefully get him on the case. quicky1980 0 Posted April 2, 2011 Last time I spoke to John (Monday just go iirc) he said he was going to pop onto here and directly communicate with us via this thread. I sent him an email with the link but I reckon it's fallen off his radar. So if you give him a nudge, and Ill do the same. Hopefully Ill see him tomorrow at Springfest. performance-trim 0 Posted April 4, 2011 Sorry it's taken a few days to get this info, but to answer a few questions... * We aren't going to replicate any of the brackets for the wiper motor. We could cut the hole out for the wiper on request, but it'd be up to the individuals to work out a way to fit the motor gear. Our philosophy is lighter = faster = no rear wiper! I'll take a closer look at it when we get a part in to mould, but I imagine the neatest part would have the wiper hole area smoothed. * The number plate plinth will be a separate item like the original. Carbon plinths may be made available as an extra at a later date, but there's no weight saving there. * The original spoiler mechanisms will fit as standard as I know most people are keen to keep the moving spoiler. I may design up some fixed-spoiler brackets to save all the weight of those mechanicals - something else to look at when I have a part in the workshop. * Price-wise, the 'fully carbon' option will be £670 inc. vat. (gloss carbon outer and inner frame). 'Standard carbon' will be £505. Fibreglass will be £280. These are the same prices as our bonnets. We've got quite a few group-buys in the pipeline at the moment (mk4 golf roofs, e30 BMW roofs, mk1 escort bonnets and escort cosworth tailgates), so it's going to be around 12 weeks until we see the corrado moulds being finished. Once moulds are done, we can make 2-3 parts per week - in the order in which deposits are placed. To get the group-buy rolling, we need a minimum total order of 10 parts, at least 5 need to be carbon. This helps us cover our initial tooling costs. We can take a minimum 50% deposit on the order, The remaining 50% plus p&p can be paid when the part is ready. I hope this covers most questions, feel free to call or email us directly if there's anything else that needs to be clarified. It's usually easier to deal with everyone ordering and making payments separately, so if you're all ready you're welcome to begin calling in with your order. cheers, Mike [email protected] 08458339690
