Sam.l 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Does anyone know whether D&G auto tech have stopped making their updated headlight looms for corrado's now? Just looked on their website and it would appear not. I hope this isn't the case!
Sam.l 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Ah gutted!!!!! Shouldve got one while I had the chance. Shame, they looked well made and did the job. Does anyone know why? And does anyone have a any recomendations for any other suitable looms?
hombre_paulo 0 Posted May 17, 2011 I`ve got a Kurzy one for sale in the classifieds. Does a great job
4eyes2wheels 0 Posted May 17, 2011 I suspect it's because Graham is on his own there at the moment. Dave actually made mine while I was there! http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?41616-Uprated-Headlight-looms-available-for-2011 is a link to a chap on here ( Kur2y ) who also makes and sells looms. Plenty of people appear to have benefitted from them.

Sam.l 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Does it offer an updated beam for both full and main beams? Not too up on the looms, but what's the difference between 2 and 3 relay?

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) Shame about DG's loom as it's the only 'proper' one I've seen to date. Personally speaking, if you use your Corrados every day and in bad weather, you seriously don't want an external loom. Make your own internal loom, following my nice wiring diagram below, and never worry about it again. Completely fit and forget. Each bulb supply can handle 30 amps, so 100W bulbs are no problem. My diagram shows 20A fuses as I'm using normal rating bulbs, but I've run 100W rally bulbs on this loom no problem. Sam.l 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Kevhaywire, that looks great but I am not good at all at electrics so not confident with this ha. 4eyes2wheels, I think I'll give him a PM and see if he's kind enough to find the time! From what I recall D&G's looms were and internal loom built into a rather swish looking box werent they? Fingers crosses anyway :-)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 17, 2011 That's fair enough :D DG's were plug and play external looms, but were sealed in a water resistant case, which is the next best thing to an internal loom :D
Sam.l 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Have PM'd crazy dave in the hope he'd consider making me one :-) otherwise thinking one of kur2y's looms. I use my corrado daily so don't want any mishaps with any electrical problems!
Sam.l 0 Posted May 20, 2011 Well, thought I'd give D&G auto tech an email just to see what they say and they've stopped making them because of the fact that the OE connectors are not available from the factory anymore. So is this a worldwide/uk part obsolete? I was wondering whether there is any way of sourcing them.
Jim 2 Posted May 20, 2011 Problem is they were specific to the Corrado.. and I believe DG cleaned out what stock of them they could get, when they were making them :(

So is this a worldwide/uk part obsolete? I was wondering whether there is any way of sourcing them. I saw a website somewhere that specialises in older VAG connectors, but the Corrado headlight one wasn't listed. Your only shot is Hella as they made pretty much all of VW's lights back then. This is the beauty of an internal loom, you don't need new connectors, you reuse the existing ones :D Are you really that bad at electrics? You don't know anyone who could follow my diagram and do it for you?
pumbaa 0 Posted May 20, 2011 If you send Kurzy some 2nd hand connectors he'll assemble a plug and play unit for you. That's what i got, only i replaced the fuse box with a waterproof one. What would be ideal is a waterproof box to house all the fuses and relays like the DG one. Anyone know one know of such a product off the shelf? Alex_G60_Fanatic 0 Posted May 20, 2011 common Sam, i thought this was all covered in your "rally" lights post the other day? External relay from kurl2y and an IP55 or higher rated enclosure from screwfix (about £5) if you dont like the idea of making your own internal loom. I wouldn't be able to wire in what kev posted so i understand the appeal of a external loom. Theres no such thing as a custom enclosure btw, you just use a standard one. Even the DG enclosure was just a standard red one with a fancy sticker on it... you just need to make sure the one you buy is big enough to house the electrics in and make sure whoever makes your loom for you that they use grommets to seal the box. As for the oem connectors according to Kurl2y they pop up every now and then from vw. They must run them off in batches. He sometimes goes a year without having them and then gets 5 sets at once, but they never seem to hang around. I just cut the plugs off my existing loom and replaced the existing with spade connectors (encase I want to later remove the loom) but if you dont want to do that then just find a car thats getting scrapped and buy the head light loom for £10, they're never expensive because they're so crap... Sam.l 0 Posted May 21, 2011 Fair do's Alex, yeah I know it was kinda covered. Ended up repeating myself oops. I recently found a g60 in a scrapyard near me so gonna go and check it out to try and get some bits. I'm gonna sound like a bit of an idiot here, but what am I looking for to find the connectors if this scrapped corrado has them? Also, does anyone know the part number for the connectors as I may try my luck at the local vw dealers if it's true that they pop up now and again. dragon green 5 Posted May 21, 2011 It's at the back of the headlight, part number-357 941 165 Here's a pic,and to rub salt into an open wound, this one's attached to a D&G loom !
too hot 0 Posted May 21, 2011 Just unplug the looms from the back of the lights and then chop the wiring loom. That's if the headlights are still in the scrapper .
Sam.l 0 Posted May 23, 2011 Dragon green that is salt most definitely rubbed into the wound haha. Popin over to the scrappy tomorrow morning and if I can, steal the connectors off the back of the headlights. If not try the dealers if I'm lucky! Maybe I can tempt D&G to make me one :-) if not, kur2y.
hendrikbmx 0 Posted June 1, 2011 I think I get the connectors for 10 euros a piece, just 2 needed for one loome yeah?
Sam.l 0 Posted June 5, 2011 Managed to get the connectors off the back of the headlights from the scrapper for a few quid! Tried to get in contact with D&G to see if they would make me one but havnt heard from them and not sure if they're interested. Think i might get an enclosure from screwfix or summit and hit Kur2y to make me a loom with the connectors and enclosure.
