ABS VAG-COM too many communications error??

Recommended Posts

As the title says really.

Pluged the cable in but just kept getting this error.

The relay was making some loud and clunky clicks, could it really be an easy fix?

Guessing that is an ebay special VAG-COM cable?

You need to make sure you have the correct software downloaded for it from the ROSS tech website.

Had this using VCDS genuine Ross-tech cable while talking to my ABS ECU, used a slightly older ver of vag com and worked fine! :)

Have you changed the latency settings for your port? I hear that sometimes causes vagcom problems reading abs faults

I agree with swiftkid, change the latency timer of the USB serial port to '5' if you want to read ABS codes -

(Control panel/hardware/devicemanager/ports/ 'USB serial port' advanced tab)

x 3 for that ^^^

Ive always found the ebay leads to be really hit and miss, even when not just scanning the ABS. Getting it to correctly detect the car and/or cable is a task in itself. One day it can be working, the next it doesnt.

Thanks for the info guys, yes its a dumb ebay special and yes i'm using the latest ross tech freebie.

Had to change the baud rate to get it working with the wifes lupo but worked 100%. (cleared brake switch and air bag faults)

I'll go and try the latency and i'll let you know...

Water damage??? ahh jeez, i hope not.....

With a multimeter check the resistance of the sensor, there's a plug on the front strut that you can unplug and check without taking the wheel off, it should be about 1100 ohms otherwise it's suspect.
