Rattling window pics

Recommended Posts

Ive had search around the forum about rattling windows but can't seem to find any pics of what it is that causes them. Mine rattle when the windows are down and you close the door. I have to be careful closing the doors with the windows open as i swear they feel like they may break.

I read that is due to some part falling off/becoming detached. Just wondering if anyone has a pic of said part.

Also am i right in assuming the rollers (off the group buy) are more for windows that rattle as they move up and down?

Hoping to fit some front speakers today so door card will be off.

Thanks

Krishen

Basically you have a slot seal on each side and then the one at the top so the window is always more secure when closed.

The only contact point between the mech and the glass is the clamp and the 2 rollers that keep the glass level on the scissor mechanism

Agreed, unfortunately the rollers are now obsolete. Try posting in the wanted section. Rollers our defiantly what your in need of

I've fitted new rollers and mine still rattle quite badly, I need to get it apart and have a look, there are other factors apparently. Isn't there a weld that can break somewhere (only something I heard on here recently) not investigated it yet.

http://www.corrado-club.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2890 is a great write up.

I bought the last 3 rollers from Alex G60 but doubt I'll get around to fitting them so you can have them for the £9 I paid for them.

Thanks for the offer but i was actually part of the group buy. Just haven't had a chance to fit them yet.

The rivets had broke on my door ! Two new pop rivets and all was sorted

Is this the 'weld' that andy has mentioned that normally breaks?

My windows rattle too. I will be removing the doorcards to sort the door handles as mine bombed out last night so will have a look to see what the reason is for mine making the noise. Hopefully an easy fix like dragon greens. it is annoying when you wind the window down a bit and all you hear is rattling while driving.

I get this too. Sorted it once before, it was completely off the rollers. Popped back in etc and seems one has popped out again. So annoying closing the door and just hear a rattle.

This happened to my passengers side window and I was annoyed when I found out the rollers where obsolete, what I did was swapped the rollers round (one at each side of the window) because the rear one takes more of a bang! There is also a slider at the rear side, stuck on with silicone, this had unstuck on mine, so I removed the window, unscrewed the metal holder at the bottom, and slide the slider off its rail, cleaned the old crappy silicone off, and restuck the slider, make sure to get the slider in the right place did this about 4 months ago and it's never banged since!

Hope this helps

No sorry mate didnt take any photos, silly really basically take the door car off then take the celphane off under where the lock pin is there is a wide metal rail, my slider was sat at the bottom off this rail when it should've been attached to the window, it's a bit fidly in there but you should be able to suss out what I mean!

If the slider was not connected then did your window still go up and down?

Yes because it's sat in the tray which is the bit that makes it go up and down the slider and rail I just a guide, if you do auto down on the window and when it gets to the bottom there is a small bang that could quite well be the window hitting the slider!
