Air Con questions

Hi all

 

I have stuck my hand up for an AC system off a fellow member and will be helping hm take it out of his car which hopefully will help me in refttng into mine. At present, I have my dash off ready to replace the heater matrix.

 

Do AC models use a different heater matrix? I imagne they would be the same... When putting in air con, do I need to trim the under-tray? Or should I just ask for this with the doner car?

only one trim bit is different, passenger shelf need to be cut as space is needed for aircon pipes

why not install climate control instead? Yours is pretty much one of the ultimate Corrados so CC would complement it well.

For me there are pros and cons, CC as nice as it is, I am not overly keen on the dash panel. I will be happy enough to have cold air to cool me down with all of these short skirts!

 

I dont think the current AC im buying works fully, its coming from John Croozin. Could just need a re gas but that was one concern I had when weighing up a newer modern sytem.

 

The buttons for the AC are the ones situated above the fag lighter, am I right in thinking these buttons are early ones? Or is this the correct position when you have heated seats with the later heated seat switches?

The AC buttons above the cig. lighter are where the factory LHD versions have them.

I've got mine there too, as I prefer them to the round Diavia ones which go near the heated seat buttons

Mine has the "factory" buttons above the fag lighter with the Davia aftermarket kit.

I took the car to a local specialist here in Germany to have the system completely renewed. Needed a new compressor as the old one was split and leaking. That was £250 or so plus it had to be modified to fit the mountings correctly, a few pipes where looking a bit rough so they were replaced. Since the front end was off I got the guy to replace the A/C Radiator and the dryer too. And he relocated my Mocal as it was getting shiit air flow. £1200 all in. Quite a bit of that was labour.

A lotta money. But it's paid for itself in two weeks of driving in ice-cold comfort. No longer a greenhouse like before.

The Diavia UK system uses the original heater box and matrix. The passenger side under-tray is cut to allow room for the pipes, and another piece added in. And also the Diavia switch is fitted where the ABS light would normally be, and the ABS is moved over to the right hand side of the dash.

The blower is a different one to the normal blower.

The undertray always looks butchered...

I chopped my original one up to fit, and used an flocked offcut, which I then plastic welded into place. Looks much nicer :)

interesting setup joebloggs. On mine the aircon switches are below the fogs and the ABS is next to the headlight switch. same round switches as your though, not the oval ones that the US cars have below the heater panel.

Do you have a part number for the motor fitted to Storm with diavia a/c please?

Mine only works on speed 4
