Lights On Warning Fitted And Working

Recommended Posts

I saw an article on the Canadian Owners Club about fitting a lights on warning chime using a three pin relay/chime from a Citroen Xantia.

I got a relay from ebay (Renault Magane/Laguna/Clio) for a few pounds and it was so simple to fit.

Using the glove box light wires for ignition and earth and Cigarette lighter bulb for “lights/cancel” It now chimes if you switch off your ignition but leave your lights on!

No cutting into headlamp looms or ignition wires – Simples!

Nice one. I have the OEM one which sounds like the noise made by making a mistake at the game Operation!

"The" OEM one? I didn't think VW ever fitted a lights on buzzer to Corrados? Kudos if they did! What's the p/n?! :D

Although I would much prefer the musical bong American cars get, being fussy!

The Renault one is a two tone number so not a harsh buzzer - I'm sure their are numerous choices, I just went for the Renault because it was three pin and in case it didn't work - cheap!

I made one that buzzes if you have your lights on and switch off the the ignition, it also buzzes if the keys are left in the ignition and the door opened and the engine not running. It does use an annoying buzzer from maplin as i wasnt sure where to get a two tone one from...

Not sure but if you tell me what to look for I'll have a look around.

Neither I nor the chap I bought it from fitted it and as he had it from almost new (it's a 94) I can't see why a VW dealer would fit an aftermarket.

Mine only comes on when the lights are on and the door open, not when the ignition is off like some are describing...
