Insured it for the weekend to take a trip up2 gti international and f**king love it! Can't get over how nice it is to drive!

Cruised all the way at 80-90 easily. Did NOT enjoy getting back in the golf tho ;(

Time to sell up I think.

Only bad thing is I found/created a water leak! It's either coming from the top rad elbow or from the hole where the support goes in!

I'm hoping it's the elbow tbh as don't really wanna be shelling out for a new rad just yet!

it almost certainly be the elbow ben. when you take it out you may find the bit that fits inside the rad has crumbles and the O ring has perished. infact looking at the first pic you an see it coming out between the rad and the elbow

Thanx mate I'll order a new elbow then. Just found 1 on eBay for 25 quid!

Didn't realise the billet 1s were so expensive or I'd get 1 of those.

Also after moving the car off the drive I found another stain on the drive. Seems to be coming from in front of the Osr wheel! Smelt like brake fluid but will have a look tonight for any clues.

Elbow ordered off eBay. Didn't want to wait weeks for the seal from heritage so paid a little more!

Had a look under the car where the wet patch looked like it came from and couldn't see anything . Wierd! Mots up in a week or two so I'll have a look when up on the ramp.

Nice one Ben. What were the 2 advisors?

Cheers guys.

1. Rear passenger seatbelt showing wear.

2. Slight air leak on exhaust (something along those lines)

So nothing really that bad :)

Yea stu that's the first time I've seen ya driving about I think. Put a smile on my face too knowing someone apreciates it around here! Lol .

Well I was Gunna go down the 'low n wide' route but having second thoughts now as its been a real pleasure to drive at almost standard height! I'm liking not having to slow down to 5mph to go over a bloody speedbump!

Next thing is to give it a good 'ol' service I think :)

Wish I could say my original C was coming along nicely, but last I heard it got impounded! And mike was deciding what to do with it!! But he's a good guy so hoping he sorted it for the best :s

Found out the bmc I got off here was the smaller/wrong filter but funnily enough my mate who's building a 1.8t mk2, bought the right 1 and it dosent fit!

Yoink!!!

So now I have the right sized filter and surprisingly does make a difference!

Had a tiny bit of oil dripping from the breather pipe onto the heatshield which was giving off smoke! Bit of a panic when I popped the hood lol:)

so removed it all, cleaned it all out and put it back together . Good as new.

Pics to follow later

Cheers pal :)

Do you mean the bottom rad support where the rad sits on?

I do, the rusted part in the photo's on page 3 that needed to be replaced.

Sorry I didn't get the part number. They'll be $$$ from Vw if still for sale. I got 1 off of a 2.0 ltr and welded the bracket on to fit the VR rad. That's the only difference between them I think.

Good luck

Ben

Boshed the coilies on before I went away aswell! Was worried about getting on and off the ferry but wasn't that bad in the end. Bit of a grazed splitter but was expecting that lol.

Was two other Corrados in the fest.

A red VR on speedlines and a black 2.0 16v I think, on borbets ! Only got a pic of the black 1.

Any tips for removing the laquer from the lips? I got some wire brush attachments for the drill. Not the wire ones, the black nylon 'paint removal from metal' ones. Are these ok to use?

On the engine side of things! Still haven't had the crank seal done:( I'm thinking of just swapping this spare engine into it as its had the chains and guides done already. I'll just do the rear crank seal on that (just to make sure) , ,and swap it over 😳! He says!

to remove teh lacquer, just paint on some nitromors, leave for a few minutes, when it bubbles up gently scrape it off leaving a nice lacquer-free surface. Then remove any oxidation with the nylon wheels. I think theres also a red/burgundy one which is slightly less abrasive (or more abrasive, i cant remember)
