best way to clean LOADS of connectors!

Recommended Posts

In preparing for the OBD2 conversion i want to clean up all the connectors really throughly. Is there any quicker way than wd40 and a toothbrush, which will be fairly time consuming considering the number of connectors!

Ultrasonic bath full of meths or IPA (no, not India pale ale) would do it - a mate who used to make jewellery had one. It did a cracking job on PCBs, they looked factory-fresh! Between £30 and £80 on eBay should get you a decent one.

That's because both Coke and Pepsi are dilute solutions of phosphoric acid. Use proper acid instead (citric works well, you can buy it in bulk online) and you won't get nasty sugar deposits on everything!

Caustic soda works wonders on aluminium but you can't leave it in too long or it dissolves...

Dilute carbonic acid (H2CO3).

Ultrasonic seems the best option as you dont need to agitate, brush or anything. In th emeantime, is there any adverse effect for leaving connectors for some minutes in Turps substitute or meths and then cleaning witha brush?

Every time I mention it people get confused, I always mean isopropanol :) Cleans and degreases so well I never use anything else, and dries with no residue.

Pepsi is definitely phosphoric acid, even says so on the label :)
