Favorite ways of having them are either straight with a bit of Ice or in one of the following.

Moscow mule -Vodka, ginger beer and lime

Cuba libre - Rum, coke and Lime

Mojito - Rum, mint, sugar syrup and soda water ( I can never get this one right tho :( )

Long Island Ice tea - Vodka, Tequila, Gin, Rum, Triple sec and a dash of coke

also cant go wrong with a good Tequila slammer - Tequila, salt and lemon

What do you lot recommend in trying then

also cant go wrong with a good Tequila stuntman - Snort salt, Down Tequila, Squeeze lemon in your eye.

Fixed!

I'm not a big fan of neat spirits, if i'm at home I rarely drink anything but water/squash!

On a night out, I go for 8 pints of Cider [NOT Magners/Strongbow - I'm from the west country thankyou.] then onto Havana 5 & Coke or Hennessy & Coke.

I do like a good Mojito or LIIT though - good choices.

I despise Sambuca!

Hendrix gin is good although a little pricey!

Always liked glenmorangie, they have done different types finished off in varying casks , dark rum cask was my favourite.

Worked in bundaberg for 3 months picking sweet potatoes when I was in oz and had plenty of bundy rum, very nice, didn't realise it was so widely known till I'd been there :)

I enjoy the odd whisky or two, with Laphroaig as a personal favourite. http://www.laphroaig.com/

And I'm definitely an Ale man (Pride, Doom Bar, TEA, Badger) over lager etc! I used to live above a country pub for 3 years and by the time I left was fairly well educated in the world of beer!

BBQs & camping I drink Cider but if im in the house or eating out I like big big Reds usually Australian. Durrif = heaven

If its top shelf then its Hendricks Gin with cucumber, Ice & Tonic.... ideal on a sunny day. Vodka I do like that Finlanda stuff but Grey Goose is my favourite - Yum.

I may get shot down for this but I cant go anywhere near whiskey of any quality, I wish I did because I know loads of folk who enjoy it & when they describe the pleasure they get from a good one i like the sound of it: warming, soothing, smokey etc.....

Can't believe no-one has mentioned Rum-Bongo!!

My serious answer though, is Port. I love the stuff, esp white Port. However, I'm no connoisseur and have yet to try a really expensive one. I usually buy Dow's. Anyone else like Port? Any recommendations?

Got a bottle of absinthe lastnight from the drink shop, the la fee stuff.

I don't really drink very often at all, but its a nice drink when made up properly.

On paper it looks like it would melt your insides, but somehow, christ knows what, it doesn't taste harsh at all!! In fact, it's bloody lovely!! :)

Another vote for Hendrick's Gin.......with Fever Tree tonic and cucumber, the price is irrelevant when it tastes that good!

Rather partial to a Jameson's 1780 (known these days as 12 Year Old Special Reserve) too.

Makers Mark bourbon and Jack Daniels for sure for me.

Long Island Iced Tea is awesome.

I also love lots of the eastern beers- Tiger, Singha, Kingfisher etc. Actually have a big bottle of Singha on the go now as its my birthday and I'm not out tonight.
