No, it isn't the same. I have to change the LED positions, so I have to redesign the PCBs for each color sets.

So guys... These parts are all of LHD of course. To make PCBs for the RHD I need help. I don't have ever seen a RHD unit. so I need a good and clear photo from a unit with a demounted bezel and I need a 300 dpi scan from the backside of a bezel without the inner parts like this scan from the LHD bezel: CLICK

I need it, because I'm not sure about some holes and the final positions for some LEDs.

 

 

Pics about the earlier style HVAC will you get if anybody will answer my question (3th try...):

Is the LHD and the RHD heat/ventilation Unit identical? I think yes, but I want a simple shot to get sure. Thanks in advance!

Ive got pictures of the bezel etc BUT having trouble scanning the bezel as my printer is an all in one printer so it focus's more on the edges of the bezel than the bits in the middle.

Yes, I know James and his famous products. I've mailed very often with him. I’ve build an instrument cluster in cooperation with him for a good friend of James.

But the difference is the way to illuminate the HVAC. I will always use LEDs, because the colors are real, the blue is blue not cyan, the red is red not purple and LEDs are much brighter, will live longer and comes without any converter. Just 12V in and it will glow ;-) The brightness is normally dimmable. And converters will squeak.

But the printed EL-Sheets are good at the price. LED tech is dearer. It will need a new foil and a specialized PCB with many LEDs to get a smooth illumination without any hot spots.

So I think every product has it own advantages or otherwise. To the best of my belief, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

I've build some other more since 2005, but the most only for one car, so I habe no photos. I've build a green one like the OEM+ style w/o AC, but I don't can find a photo.

The most I've made was the DDI and the OEM+ in blue. The blue one ist favorit, if anybody has changed the switches to red and the cluster to blue with red LCDs.

I've sent Dirk a heater control unit for him to get started on this. The fan switch is on the other way round on the UK spec unit, so he's got a little bit of work to do, but he's on to the case.

Looks like Spoonfed don't do the early style OEM panel in green but with the temp control in blue/red gradient anymore, shame as I would have liked that option to bring the dash up to a more modern style without being noticable during normal daily use.

Hello guys,

now I want to update you ;)

 

Yes, Miles has sent me a complete HVAC unit of a RHD. That absolute freaky!! The trust in me is incredible! It's most appreciated. Thanks a million!

 

Now I've started the project RHD-HVAC

 

At first I've taken a photo from the 2 units, the LHD and the LHD. Here it is (left is LHD you can guess witch is the RHD :-) )

 

At next step I've scanned the backside of the RHD-Bezel. I've imported the file to an graphic program and I've added the right LED-Positions to get a homogeneous illumination.

This positions are only for the red PCB. So I've to build a file like his for the green and the blue PCB's.

 

 

Then I will start to draw the schematic circuit diagram for each color. After this I will import the outline with the LED-Position into the CAD-Program to draw the conducting paths.

 

 

I will inform you about the next steps.

 

When I have ready all 3 layouts with the 3 "CNC-Milling-Files", we can start the group buy. As God wills next weekend. :dance:
