Budget springs recommendations ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm wanting to lower my '93 VR6 approx 30-40mm, not too much, and am looking for some cheap springs with a good ride (not too hard!), something to tide me over til I can afford coilovers! Anybody got any recommendations? Anyone tried GSF's new line?

Cheers,

Robbo

I've got a box of GS&F (40mm) lowering springs here - next to my desk. Haven't got around to fitting them yet though :?

Wish I'd not bought them now - could get them much cheaper when I move to their head office next weekend

You'll be able to get me some nice & cheap then, eh Steve?

btw, are you going to Harrogate for the next meet, or will you have already left sunny Yorks by then?

Cheers,

Robbo

Moving house to Sutton Coldfield next Friday/Saturday. Got a house sorted now - going to look at it tomorrow morning, at the request of the estate agents. Not sure why - even if I don't like it, there's no time to look for another. :x

The springs that I have are for the G60 anyway - different to the VR

I heard that the Boge lowering springs for the VR are the same rate as standard, but 40mm lower. I think G&S sell them?

Boge are OE suppliers to BMW, so they must be fairly good quality.

Jamex give a good ride - even in 60mm lower guise

Extra expense of changing shockers too though - can usually get away with just springs upto 35-40mm

The G60 seems to have standard shocks and Kamex springs. the springs are going to get changed in the next week or so though, so will be available...
