Can't get a reading for oil temp after an oil change!!

Recommended Posts

Folks, I did an oil change yesterday and replaced the oil and the oil filter, however driving to work today and I pressed the MAF button to get oil temp reading and all I get is " - - -", all the other readings like mpg, time, etc are fine.

Have I damaged the oil temp sensor? :( I don't see how, it was a straight forward oil change. Any ideas folks?? If it is the oil temp sensor where is it??

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Sanj

Sounds like you have knocked / ripped the wires that go to the sensor - very easy to do..... check the wiring.

The temp sensor for the oil on the 1800 16V is behind the head, green and black wire IIRC. I reckon it's the same for the 2.0 aswell, but don't quote me on that!

Either the sensor has died during a mysterious coincidence or the wiring is iffy.

Not being patronising, but you do know that a reading is only given when the oil >50 degrees. I'm sure you know this, and if so, i can't help any further!!

Right I have my suspicions it might be the sensor will check it if I can find it, I dont' see how it can go since I only replaced the Oil Filter and undid the sump plug at the bottom, and I did'nt see any wires around those to knock the sensors??
