STORM 2 0 Posted May 20, 2004 Hi I posted a thread earlier regarding an uneven gap on the tailgate when shut - Afew others had this problem and suggested the hinges could be going. Anyway, I fiddled around with the striker plate which adjusts quite freely and NOW there is no longer a gap. Seeing as this is just a five minute job I thought it would be worthwhile posting just in case other fools like me spend months figuring it out
dr_mat 0 Posted May 20, 2004 Wow that sounds like something the reliable boys at Karman should have dealt with at the factory!! Shock horror! :)
STORM 2 0 Posted May 20, 2004 I was thinking of sending it back to them to do it properly..........................
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 20, 2004 I bet you undid the two allen bolts and moved the latch plate to the right? Most Cs I've seen have a large gap on the right side.
STORM 2 0 Posted May 21, 2004 My gap was on the left - so I loosened the two allen bolts and moved down and to the left Needs a bit more power to click shut now though...........
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 21, 2004 Yeah that'll subside over time mate. I think the tailgate alignment was done on a Friday afternoon at the Karmann factory
