Bouncy rev counter needle

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a 2.0 16v abf engine in my corrado and the rev counter needle is very bouncy and goes up in notches instead of going up fluently, at idle it's fine.

Any ideas what this could be?

Sounds like the spindle on your rev counter is sticking. Mine does this in winter if not driven for a while, but after one or two journeys it is fine.

Ah brilliant I will check the crank sensor.it goes up quite fluently at a normal rate but when I put my foot down hard it hesitates then jumps say 3-4k revs

It might be wear with in your rev counter as already mentioned.

Or on some vehicles it could be the coil as on some it sends a signal to the rev counter,

and on others it uses the crank sensor to partly operate the rev counter.
