Wobbly cigarette lighter

Recommended Posts

I've just bought a cheapo handsfree kit, the kind where the cradle etc.. plugs into the cigarette lighter. Only problem is the lighter plug + panel is really wobbly, not sure if something's broken or what.

Any ideas how can I get the thing out to see whats up with it ??

Cheers,

Dan

I started using a phone cradle but the weight of the damn thing started shfting the lighter surround pretty much the same as yours is doing. I only plug it in now if I need to use the phone or expecting a call. When pulling it back out I hold the surround in while pulling. They weren't designed to hold stuff.

Its fairly easy to take it out - youll need to take out the ashtray unit on the left side of it and you'll see how to get it out.

If it is damaged, let me know and I could let you have a spare unit Ive got somewhere.

yeah take out the ashtray and you will find that the lighter clips into a little lip of plastic that may be a bit worn. Just put some black tape on it to secure it. Once the ashtray is back in, you will never see the tape and it wont move!

Cheers for moving it. The Interior forum had disappeared for some reason.

I've not bothered for the moment as it seemed to pop back in quite well... If it comes loose again, i'll bang some tape on it :)

Glad you got it sorted - in any case I can never get mine to sit perfectly straight - another example of Karmann Friday Afternoon syndrome no doubt....
