Wayne2015 10 Posted March 28, 2015 If the fans are free to spin, then just get used to the most power draining fans fitted to any car of its type! I need a new MORE powerful battery then?
Wayne2015 10 Posted March 28, 2015 Yes mate, have a look on the bottom of the fusebox cover to see which position it is. Ignition needs to be on for the horn to work btw. Thanks Sean! Yes - I did noticed horn ONLY works when ignition on - was concerned that - as I do sit in car a lot of times with ignition off and should a car hit me .... I couldn't see a diagram on the fuse box so asking.....cool - will dig out fuse cover! :thumb right:
seanl82 23 Posted March 28, 2015 Your battery should be fine mate. If it spins freely, just check there are no fins missing or broken, as that'll cause vibration. They are pretty aggressive anyway, but unless you were being a tad dramatic, it shouldn't vibrate the whole cabin lots. You will definitely hear it, revs will drop slightly and you'll feel it mildly, but that's it mate.

Most modern cars i sat in - u can hear the fan kick in then a gentle humming/buzz in cabin movement. My C more vibrating - just thought it was normal for a 20 year old ... Though FIRST time felt a 2nd bigger vibrate (assuming its 2nd kick in)??? Or do they both work at same time???

Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted March 28, 2015 If you look at the fans you can see that there is only one motor. This motor has 2 built in resistors that control fan speed depending on fan power requirements of the fan controller, the bit connected to the front of the coolant bottle. There is a rubber band that connects the second fan to the first. Did you turn the fan connected to the motor or the other one? If you turned the other fan and it moved easily, there is a chance that the rubber band has come off and is able to move freely. The notchyness you are looking for is in the motor so make sure you turned the fan connected to the motor. If it is connected and it is as dramatic as you say it is, do as Sean says and make sure the fan is in one piece. Do a bit of fault diagnosis and see if the motor or fan housing is loose, give everything a shake and see if you can find out if anything doesn't seem right. I know mechanicals are not your thing but there is really nothing in there to kill you, so long as the engine is cold, the fan wont come on. Get in there and have a good look around with a torch. Cool - thanks Sean The heavens have opened up now - so will have to wait til later ... I did turn both fans and both were very very easy to spin...but let me have another go later to be absolutely sure. I will check the motor, housing, band also... Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted March 28, 2015 If both fans spin easy then you have nothing to worry about unless something has come loose and it's causing it to make a nasty noise.

Wayne2015 10 Posted March 28, 2015 Looks ok? But cant see rubber band??? :(
seanl82 23 Posted March 28, 2015 The rubber band is like a small fan belt. It links the two fans so they should both spin together. It's between the centre of the two.
Jim Bowen 1 Posted March 28, 2015 I think the belt that links the fans is on the front of the fans so sandwiched between fans and rad.
Wayne2015 10 Posted March 28, 2015 Pull off horn cover, taking care not to pull too hard as its connected with a spade connector. Disconnect spade, undo bolt, pull off wheel. Simples! Silicon grease can be got from any motor factors or DIY store mate. Done! :) No more scraping noise!
Wayne2015 10 Posted March 28, 2015 I think the belt that links the fans is on the front of the fans so sandwiched between fans and rad. Cheers Jim/Sean I assume belt is there then - as can turn both fans by moving one ..
VAG-hag 0 Posted March 28, 2015 That is pretty safe assumption!
Wayne2015 10 Posted March 28, 2015 I think the belt that links the fans is on the front of the fans so sandwiched between fans and rad. This is the slower speed: It did stop for a split second, then went faster. My steering wheel can see obviously vibrating a bit (not that scarey, but vibrates ...) More than i used to... Wayne2015 10 Posted March 28, 2015 Looking at car from front ... Right side, bottom bolt of radiator is not tighten in :( Radiator left trim not even attached  Driver headlamp - trim behind not screwed in :shocked!: Causes for the EXTRA vibration when fans are on??? :bonk:

Wayne2015 10 Posted March 28, 2015 Dismantling sunroof motor cover to check when sunny where leaking (or for rust): Remove cabin light / sunroof switch: Motor cover held by 2 screws / washers (One screw missing washer and not securing cover) Surprised allen key still there :thumb right: Considering amount of missing trims, covers etc on car! Motor cover + cabin light Can only change bulb by removing cabin light + from side push plastic legs of cabin light cover Only ONE clip then that holds the cabin light to the ceiling? Found this awesome headliner removal steps :thumb right: I want to give it a go too (check sunroof leak, aerial leak, sort any rust too :)) http://www.corrado-club.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9258
