g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted June 12, 2015 im lost for words reading the last few posts wayne however i am not understanding how a garage can rack up such a bill & give you a diagnosis when they haven't, or cant, even plus it in to the diagnostics you could drive into VW & pay them £50, ie a fraction of your current bill, & they would hook it up & give you a read out of errors etc plus, how can they have ran diagnostics if they haven't got VAGCOM it is making me wish you lived down by me as i would send you to my mechanic it is such a shame as you really need to enjoy this motor m8
delfinis38 1 Posted June 12, 2015 Doesn't take much to add 700 notes to a bill... How much do they charge labour ? 50 - 70 pounds an hour... Then bits that need changing and mot test 50 notes... Glad I'm a practical person.... Will give anything ago before I pay an expert...

I was going to offer them my cheap eBay OBD scanner! Hopefully the guy is a junior dosent know what he is on about and not the same guy doing the work! I just have to pray that : 1. Their fault finding is spot on 2. Their repair work top notch 3. And my C is fixed with NO NEW issues created! (Wayne goes to church ...)

MOT: discounted £20 (free retest) Think its mainly the labour that adds up due to brake fluid change, brake pipes, clutch, cat ...
MarkR 11 Posted June 12, 2015 Could you keep the C as a weekend toy be an option and then buying a cheap and newer 'run around' as your daily driver? A 20 + year old car is always going to cause more problems than a new car as various parts come to the end of their life either through age or by simply wearing out. Having said that you seem to have sorted out lots of issues and it would be a shame to quit now and let someone else have the benefit of your hard work and money. Wayne2015 10 Posted June 13, 2015 don't do it.... drive it for a few month before any rash decisions..... another c could be just a can of worms. yours must be well sorted now. Cheers bud But no rash decision The C was always a temp car - just somewhere along the way I couldnt let go of it (from the day I test drove it!) From day 1, it was a fight with "stick with the plan, Wayne" to me "buying every possible simple upgrade" and even as far as "a mini remap with Vince&co" - until garage bills started to add up and torpedo'd that ... Dont worry No plans to buy another C until 3-5 years time AFTER I secure a home 1st!
