White VR6 in Windy Yorkshire! :)

Recommended Posts

Glad to hear you are happy with the new acquisition. Running a Corrado as a reliable daily can test all of us. Last year was the straw that broke the camels back for me and I doubt now I will ever go back to using mine every day.. Will forever be a weekend car now.

Hope you get back into a situation where you can afford another Corrado again as there was no doubting your enthusiasm for it and the desire to get things put 'right' rather than bodging them. All the best :)

the 75 were meant to have so lovely leather sofas in the back...

you got some driving gloves yet ?

Lol

No

But boot fits my golf clubs

congrats on selling the rado wayne

hopefully your next one, whenever that may be, will not be so troublesome

Thanks Andy!

It was the worse day of my C ownership however troublesome it was.

The fact I get to blast her at least THREE times a week on a quiet no-camera bypass is just heaven! :)

But also relieved now it's gone and to someone who s going to restore her :)

Still want a VR6 (but with 4wd :))

Thanks Jim - that means a lot :thumbleft:

I still have my upgraded parts (wink)(wink) CDA, headlight upgrade loom, nearly got a working directional heater panel, short shifter (but someone needed it locally recently so sold that), still looking for a Passat moonroof! and I ain't selling any of the parts as its a permanent fixture of me now :)

Still got the flipping Octavia sunroof (seller sent me a facelift one rather than the pre-facelift) STILL arguing with him on payment! Else I would have a working sunroof on the C when I sold her :(

Update: fuel flap

The vinyl wrap never arrived (again debating with eBay seller)

So quickly clay, polish, DoDo Juice wax and its smooth as silk - shame if looked spotty though :(

Will missed the C hugely as well as this forum as I need to concentrate on spamming the Rover forum - er I mean participate in the Rover forum

But I will still be about :thumbleft:

Cheers

1- remove light and re seal with silicone. 2- ignore unless fan doesnt work at all, 3-Dont use air con or try air con sanitizer spray, 4- dont bother 5- dont bother, 6- buy new tyres, 7- might aswell its cheap... if dies it dies because of 5 and 6 then no biggy just move on..

Lol

No worries, Andy - all good banter

U know what?

After the experience of buying the C alone and then problems came to light AFTER I drove away....I was determined to thoroughly researched the Rover AND got a forum member to inspect it for me before I bought a one way ticket to final inspect myself :thumbleft:

Rover was described as "excellent inside and out, FSH, long MOT, most importantly BIG jobs done (cambelt/pump/pretensions/guides - ah, I learnt this from here ) and the infamous VIS motors inside the inlet manifold also replaced + major service and OBD diagnostic check (T4) by an expert Rover garage. Forum member inspection also reported back EXCELLENT with a BUY BUY BUY recommendation...

...what more endorsement do I need???

I went down on the day looking forward to it and thinking " Wayne s luck starting to turn :)"

And....

...I didn't want it.

Parked outside for God knows how long.

Dirt, bird poo, door frames engine sides covered in debris - though inside was very clean.

The thought of the C inspection made me sweat....but feeling is this car not excellent nor loved and I don't want it to be like the C ALL OVER AGAIN  :shocked!"

Rang the member who inspected it "I backing out!"

Member "why, its an excellent buy, worth more!"

Me "needs new tyres coz cracking, trims falling apart, looks unloved..."

Member "seriously, its nothing its a very good buy"

Contradicting my gut feeling ...I proceeded to test drive..."engine grinding, fan kicks in intermittently, heavy petrol smell, winning in cabin, lots of squeaks rattles too...."

Member "that's normal!"

I bought it, rest is history.

Now car pulls to left when breaking

Refurb radiator fan + bits £140

Tyres are 18" so £100+ (unless budget)

Lots of talks about hot weather , long trips, air conditioning and WHY? :shocked!:

Taking a 500mile round trip over weekend wish me luck! ARGHHHHH....

I paid top dollars for this one hoping most big issues sorted - apparently may not be the case :(

I understand yes its old car - but it isn't that old when compared to the C....

Cheers bud.

Forum has remade seals for £10 - so Andy was right some cheap parts made by members :thumbleft:

But no reply from members AND its started to rain these few days - so I might make the seals myself.

Agree!

Forum already said spray direct on air con evaporator - accessible via footwell (as underneath too big a job for me)! :)

The forum is very good.

Members are very helpful.

So please don't take my words as Rover are bad cars and forum not so good esp with my personal inspection.

Rover is a LOT of car for the money.

Forum is excellent so far.

Members really helpful - person who inspected my car really nice :thumbleft:

I think this time I just picked a member who is not very thorough with inspections and too generous with praise - my bad luck.

Fan needs to be fixed - as they are well know to break.

Especially been told my coolant temp is NOT being kept at optimal temp

Forum members are already helping me left right and centre!

So all praise and respect to them - so please don't take my experience so far as a poor light to the Rover and forum ...I just sharing my personal experience...

Maybe buying cars isn't your thing Wayne. Have you thought about buying a pushbike?

Buying ANYTHING is not my thing, Sean!

Not told u about other stuff I bought yet!

Don't get me started on bikes!

Few years ago - waited months to buy a new mountain bike.

No promotions were available, so bought a new one from Halfords.

Next day,

In national newspapers on double page "Halford bikes now 1/3 off!".....

Dear Lord baby Jesus, I'm going to cry!

Always, ALWAYS go with your gut!

I always think others know better :(

Maybe lack of confidence in myself....but then again knowing my luck even if I walked away I probably end up with an even worse car

Took Rover on bypass....can't even call it a BLAST now :(

I missed my C....

Scuppered then, lol.

As for tyres, Yogi's in Keighley is worth popping into to see if he's got any part worn rubber to suit, just to get you by.

He does new too. I got a Landsail budget from him once and it seemed pretty good. Either that or the P-Zero on the other side was doing all the work.

that's em. I prefer to turn at ASDA's lights, then a right left, right at mini round about and then first left after 1 speed-bump (your way has several)

I've never had any bother with them, but with "Wayne luck" you maybe best steer clear.;)
