mat ed30 10 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) Ok i bought this from a mate a few weeks ago its a 3 owner car but its really a 2 as it was the first owner's company car and then my mate bought it back in 2001 so he know's pretty much everything about it and it has mostly Vw history.Any way my mate told me he was thinking of selling it and as i knew the car i had to have it so a deal was done and i picked it up a few weeks ago. the day i got it home looking dirty so time for a bath this left a pretty clean car for its age so next thing on the list was get rid of the 16s so lucky for me mate kept stock wheels put them back on today so much better and i love the colour so much some times its Grey then it goes Purple Edited February 9, 2015 by mat ed30
mat ed30 10 Posted February 9, 2015 its currently got an intake but think i am going to change it to something better as it will be pulling in hot air from the engine noticed my mate had fitted mk4 rear brakes as the stock ones had locked up while it was sat at his for a few years so thats one less job to do

coullstar 0 Posted February 9, 2015 No wonder the 15's felt better, that's monster truck tyres on the 16's. Looks good.
mat ed30 10 Posted February 9, 2015 I am in 2 minds if I should lower it or not but the ride height is shocking stock needs a good 30mm off it
Chuggs1 10 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) When I got mine a couple of months ago I swore I was going to keep it standard but having the brakes all done at the end of the month and will be lowering mine slightly too - been watching all the comments on suspension and the Blistein B12s sound good - 25 - 30mm off the height but sound like it retains a level of comfort too - if I carry on like this I will be up at Stealth this time next year having a turbo fitted Lol! The cars are addictive, as I think is he idea of improving them! Love mine so much puts a smile of my face everytime I drive it! mat ed30 10 Posted February 12, 2015 Need to sort some lowering springs plus a new head unit then a service and will just tidy everything up on the car. The engine bay needs a good going over so might pull what I can off and clean the crap off it all

mat ed30 10 Posted April 22, 2015 (edited) Thanks to a few forum members i sorted a cracked door strap as mine had a hairline crack in it. i noticed that my stock exhaust was looking a bit sorry for its self as the last owner told me it was damaged and on further inspection i noticed the whole heat shield around the centre box was flapping around and just banging on the floor so a local forum member sent me a pm saying he had something so this got me this was in need of a clean so cleaned it up and tried to get old system off  pain the arse soon realised it needs cutting off so :bonk: so dropped it at a mates grg who chopped it off for us and fitted the new one but on me picking the car up noticed the fit was crap and it was sitting really low .I was happy enough but it needs a good inch taking off the system to shorten it as it came off a car with no cat,i had to remove the rear hanger and make a something to get it sitting better so now left with this will sort it better in the future but for now it looks ok and sounds so much better but might end up chopping end off for a better style too but it was cheap enough and worth a punt. I noticed while driving the car i was getting a loud banging from the rear and after further inspection i found i had a very loose rear caliper i.e. the bolts hold the the caliper on could be turned by hand so thank god i found that and sort it so now have a nice quiet rear end Edited April 22, 2015 by mat ed30
