New Storm Owner

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just bought this morning. Very good driver, original, but needing bodywork in usual places and a re-spray.FSH with a BN clutch, though.

Will look forward to keeping you all updated.

Can someone direct me to VIN number breakdown? It could possibly be an interesting one.

thanks!

I asked about one on Autotrader & the seller was fairly convinced his was the last Storm off the production line.

However apparently N387 CWL, the last Storm produced, was sent straight to the VW museum as shown in this old Top Gear clip

Can't really get my small brain around that dragon - if, like most cars, present numerical digits are sequential to production it would suggest mine is the last

- not gonna cry if it's not though, can't wait to get her match fit

That's the thing, unfortunately they aren't sequential. All engine types were thrown in I believe, so it's not even vr6 specific.

This Storm was 30 mins away & I was going to try to look at it soon.

The seller seemed like a really nice, genuine guy. He kept on top of the mechanicals for 9 years but unfortunately let the various bodywork jobs slide.

I showed the photos to my local bodyshop & I hope you can get a decent job done for a lot less than they quoted me! Just think though - once the bodywork is up to scratch you'll have a great car

Thanks Zyg

yep mechanical upkeep very good. half a dozen areas to body to sort, might be more once we get into her ribs but i work in trade and have favours to cash so cost will be minimised. Interior is very very good though.

Will run her over the summer before baremetal/engine out etc.
