G60 Firewall Heat Shield

Recommended Posts

Afternoon All,

After stripping my firewall for a respray I am now looking to pipe it all back up and refit master cylinders etc, would there be any merit in applying some self adhesive heat shield to the firewall directly behind the manifold?

Not sold on the idea but don't want my paint damaged either - anyone have any thoughts?

Cheers

Do you not have the stock heatshield there? I know some didn't come with it fitted, so may be worth asking around the breaking threads for one if you don't have it mate.

Edit; just noticed the G60 bit! Can you use the VR6 stock heatshield? May be worth investigating for that OE look.

Hi seanl82, had a stock one that clipped to the top of the firewall but it's seen better days; cant find a part number for it on etka - any ideas? Vr6 one could be a good shout. Cheers

Can't tell you what the difference is, but they're different part numbers for the bulkhead firewall heatshield for a VR6 and a G60.

G60: 191803326C

VR6 (with airbag!): 536803312A

Both obsolete now, sadly.

There's yet a third one listed for standard '4-cylinder' models: 536803312

Obsolete also :(

it tidied it up and you can hardly see it when engine is in.

i believe the vr6 one is alot bigger/taller than the g60 one

Thanks guys, another obsolete.

Looks like it's gonna be some self adhesive then

Stuartscales, does yours come high enough up the firewall to clear the manifold? Just looking at how high the shield needs to come - don't want to bring it all the way up unnecessarily. Cheers
