keystarG60 0 Posted September 15, 2016 Hi all Corrado G60 A couple of times recently when turning on the ignition, ive noticed a tiny puff of smoke coming from where the steering wheel meets the ignition cowling. It hasn't stopped the car or any of its electricals from working Any ideas re cause please? Cheers guys, Andrew
robrado974 1 Posted September 15, 2016 The first thing I would do is disconnect the battery . Remove the both steering cowls and look for wires that are split , or wires that are touching something they should not , ie each other or grounding on a metal surface . seanl82 23 Posted September 15, 2016 Yep, sounds like arching to me I'd certainly be investigating and not driving the car!
16VG60 1 Posted September 15, 2016 This is typical of a worn ignition switch and its wiring plug at fault. As the guys have said, disconnect the battery and remove the column cowling to allow inspection. Do not use until sorted and if your not confident about being able to diagnose or repair, contact a Corrado Specialist or decent auto electrician. The puffs of smoke are your warning call, do not ignore this issue as this could all too easy become an electrical fire!
