I hope this is the right forum, so here goes.

Does anyone know of a site where I can get a list of part numbers in one place. I know it's possible to collate a list using the power of t'internet, however this is extremely time consuming. I'd like a list of numbers that I can take with me to the salvage yard to compare against golf/passat parts (as they haven't had any corrados in - hurrah).

Things such as the rear wiper motor/sunroof parts/ interior bits etc are my main concern at the moment, but if there's a full list out there, I'd love to know where.

sounds to me like you need a copy of Etka from somewhere... get yourself along to the York Club GTI meeting and I'll bet someone there can help you out... ;) 8)

Etka is VWs Electronic parts catalogue... it lists (and shows!) all parts for all VWs with part numbers and diagrams.... 8)

 

Of course we don't condone piracy on this forum, so you'll have to get hold of a legit copy ;) I'm sure someone up there can help you out... 8)

More like the Bible of VAG ownership! It covers all VW cars, and you can get the Audi, Skoda and Seat flavours as well... ;) 8) I've not found the Bentley, Bugatti or Lamborghini flavours yet though! ;) :lol: :roll:

What's wrong with the roof? Just about everything!! :( According to the specialist VW chap that I took it too to fix it, the lid itself is bent, the rails are twisted (although I'm not sure how accurate that assesment is) and the motor has stopped working (probably trying to move the bent lid back into place :wink:

I need to remove the headlining and have a proper go at replacing it, but there are other things that also demand money....

Any bits/or advice?

get hold of a full second hand roof, they're available from around £40... repair that one and get it painted to the correct colour and then it's a case of just swapping the two over... 8)

 

There's no point in trying to repair yours if the panel is bent, as I can imagine that it'll cost silly money from VAG.... :|

 

I've got an unscratched aqua blue one that needs repairing you can have for £40 if you want it... and I may even be able to deliver it to the next York CGTI meeting... ;) 8) I may have a motor too, but I'll have to search for that... 8)

 

It needs the arm on the Passenger side replacing, which probably means it'll need the cables and guides too, but it's in full working condition at the moment, I only took it out 'cos I fitted a moon roof after it dropped the arm on my head! :lol: :roll:

Reinforced steel panel bends before 2mm thick aluminium track - I think not.

 

More likely that the panel mountings have slipped on the mechanism - an easy fix involving the use of the appropriate spline-drive tool.

 

Even if the tracks are bent, they're easy to straighten. Worn tracks on the other hand cannot be fixed.

 

Will the roof tilt and close using the switch, or will it only tilt?

 

There are only 2 bits that wear-out/break (due to lack of regular lubrication btw). Replacing these will fix pretty much any Corrado roof regardless.

 

Replacement with one from another car - or using a Passat roof - is a mixed blessing as they both use exactly the same parts...

Mike, the Passat Moonroof doesn't use exactly the same parts as it doesn't have the arms to lift the roof lining with the roof while tilting and has some way of pulling the screen back when tilting that the Corrado roof doesn't... They are VERY similar, but I've yet to see a Passat roof which has failed... :|

I have 2 in my garage at the moment.

 

The casting on the end of the cable differs and there area couple of other differences relating to the lining, but otherwise the bits that break on the Corrado roof are the same as those on the Passat roof.

 

The sunshade on both the Passat roofs I have is manually operated - you pull it back and forward by hand independent of the roof panel.

What preventative maintenance (lube?) can you take to prevent sunroof problem?

Can anyone detail the bits to grease/oil for me?

Henny that's fantastic! I'll happily take it off your hands for £40 although I have to deal with the trauma of moving house! I can pick it up from you though if you're not headed this way anytime soon. Any excuse for a drive! :D

Unfortunately I'm going to be dahn saaf for a family event and a classic car rally :roll: Typical! I'll be back in the eveing, but probably not until about 8pm. What time are you in York until? If you're not around until that late, then I'll quite happily come and collect it at some point that's convenient to you. I went across the Pennines last week for a Sebring, I've no qualms about doing it for a roof :lol:
