removing lens from dash cluster

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone knows how to remove the lens from the black instrument cluster bezel? I was thinking of putting it in the oven for a while, assuming its some sort of glue holding it in place.

In my over enthusiast earlier days I managed to split the corner of one :( But this will be used as the trial piece

The clear plastic is welded to the black. Putting in the oven probably won't do much other than melt both!

I have a spare in the garage if you are after one.

What part are you talking about? The clear panel is held on by two screws as far as I know and then just lifts off, unless you mean something else. A photo would help.

Fender - you're quite right. From this part i want to separate it into the clear plastic screen and the black plastic surround.

Examining my spare it looks like the screen is welded to the bezel in numerous positions along the top and bottom.

I'm betting if gentle pressure does not break the bond then you'll likely crack the screen trying to remove it.

It is glued around the top and bottom edge's and they dont come off easily.

Would probably be better if some care was taken
