edd 0 Posted May 8, 2018 (edited) For those that may be interested, having had a snapped bonnet cable clip recently and subsequently had to cut the cable because of a seized bonnet cable trumpet I couldn’t allow myself to spend £80 on a new original cable (Corrado has been rinsing me recently with all the underside works) so went looking for an alternative route. Bit of research came back with the tandem bike cable solution and I can honestly say it has worked perfectly and is actually much smoother than the original cable I had before, it was not a difficult job and cost me about £15 in parts..... So for those that come across this thread in a time of need... fla 9 Posted May 9, 2018 useful info, many thanks. Out of interest, to fit the release clamp on the handle does the cable need to be removed completely from the cable housing?
edd 0 Posted May 9, 2018 Prob not. If you remove trumpet at bonnet end and pull handle and then cable you should be able to get enough slack in wire to unclip wire at handle end. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

quicky1980 0 Posted May 10, 2018 After my third cable failing (all of which were new OEM). I've decided to get the gruven part as each time they broke on the clip and I'm unsure if the landrover part is any more reliable. Might update the cable though. Nice one! edd 0 Posted May 10, 2018 I used some silicon grease down the cable sheathing too, it pulls really freely which makes me hope that the handle clip won’t fail anytime soon!? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
a_riot 0 Posted May 11, 2018 You can also use an Audi 100 cable that sells for peanuts as compared to the Corrado cable and is essentially identical except in length. You'll have to trim a bit of the cover but that's about it.
edd 0 Posted May 11, 2018 Yeah I had heard that I got a part number for it from somewhere but struggled to find one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
