1200 bandit 10 Posted May 19, 2018 Corrado 2.0 16 v 1993 This is a strange one ,about 8/9 months ago drove the Corrado home from work running ok Stop on the road to open the garage door, tryed to start the engine none start No abs light on ,crank the engine abs light comes on Had a quick check still none start, the next day morning engine starts a runs ok ( have found more wiring faults and repairs carried out over the winter)the car starts on the button now The is no faults in the abs system, engine system.the abs is all working fine the bulb is lighting up it’s that abs light only comes on when cranking the engine when the engine starts the light goes off Anyone come across this before
fendervg 33 Posted May 19, 2018 It's supposed to do that I think. Should come on and then go off when ignition is switched on, and will do it again when starting. Is it just on during cranking?
1200 bandit 10 Posted May 19, 2018 (edited) When the ignition is on no abs light on,when cranking the engine abs light on,gos out when engine starts, don’t know if this is normal as everything works as it should Can feel the light knock though the brake padel x 2 which is normal?? dr_mat 0 Posted May 20, 2018 Seems likely you may have a dodgy ignition switch or fuse or, as you comment on wiring, wiring issues. The abs is supposed to come on with the ignition. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
seanl82 23 Posted May 20, 2018 Correct sequence is abs light comes on when ignition switch is in position 2. It's doing a self test, which includes the pump - the reason why you feel the pulse through the pedal. This is completely normal and correct. The light should go out after 2 or 3 seconds once the self test is complete. It sounds to me like your system is rigged to ignition live, rather than switch live which is why it's only coming on when you start cranking the engine
seanl82 23 Posted May 20, 2018 Oh and the non starting does sound ignition switch related too. If it happens again, with switch turned to try and crank, give it a bit of a wriggle as it may well catch
1200 bandit 10 Posted May 20, 2018 The none start has only happened once, that’s when the abs light went weird The engine starts and runs spot on,the abs works as it should, It doesn’t bother me just wondering if it was a serious fault So the ignition switch may be a fault
