Hello there,

paint code L041 = black

This was used on VW's from 1980 up until roughly 2005

********************

Paint code LA9V = brilliant black

This was used on VW's from 1991 until 1995 Looks like it's possibly a two tone black, which is why it can look grey in certain light, but it is a black.

Awesome colour this I remember seeing my mates MK2 Golf GTI in brilliant black back in the late 90s, just a few years before I got my own Corrado. I've only ever seen one Corrado in the flesh in this colour, that was in early 2001 when I started looking at Corrado's, it was a garage specialising funny enough in Corrado's,

think the garage was called 4 Marks or something, in a small village called Four Marks, Alton.

********************

Paint code LC9Z = black magic also known as diamond black.

This was used on VW's from 1995 until roughly 2010

Also looks like the above colours were possibly used on Audi's.

Hope this helps

Si

LA9V is definitely a black in dull light but does change to a more graphite/ almost brownish tint in evening sun

Love a Mk2 golf GTI in black followed closely by royal blue. Actually on the look out for a 16v if an unmolested one comes on the market for a good price.

What's happening with your other Corrado at Stealth mate ?

Cars only done 79k but head gasket was gone and had been left sitting with water in cylinder so, rebored, full reconditioned cylinder head, new clutch, brakes, bushes etc.

Will be getting a set of Recaros when it arrives as have two sets of cloth Recaros.

Deciding on a set of BBS LM, 1552 Tarmac or RH ZW1 cup split rims

Cool I got the air intake, rocker cover, timing chain covers etc plus engine mounts, powder coated but they still looked rough, so who lot went to mike the polished, who is mirror polishing them then painting them silver, so car will be usable but still good, will do that with loads of bits in the engine bay and get everything powder coated underneath in time too.

Ross it might grow on you that colour,

I was in the same boat when I finally found a really good Corrado, I thought mine was black when I first saw it, but mines actually dark burgundy pearl a shade of red.

It looks black in low light, but in direct sunlight you can see the hints of burgundy/red, sometimes even purple.

All corrado colours change in different lights . Mine is DBP too . You only get the true colours in brilliant sunlight.

I was up and Stealth yesterday. Jared is yours still on the Jersey plates or is it a K reg? Saw a very tidy K reg in the shop.

There was a purple one up on the ramps having some work done waiting on powder coating taking up my spot in the queue (but I'm not fussed with waiting). Looked nice too, sometimes wish mine was something other that white when I see these differernt colours.

Anyway found a nice sunlight picture of the black code:
