I bought the Alpine 6 x 4 ones as nothing needed cutting. The only change was a connector adaptor off ebay for a couple of pounds, but you could always remove the old plug and fit new crimps if you wanted.

As for quality of speakers, they work fine. I dont have THUMP THUMP music in my ears as I prefer to listen to the tune of the engine.

These were only £30 at the time but everything has increased.  Cheap and effective replacement of the worn out old Nokia paper items

Do you have a model number for them - and maybe a ebay link to adapters ?

👍I've just bought another set for my mk2 golf, that doesnt even have a stereo!!

I may look at sourcing the crimps with plastic covers, just for a challenge

I bought those speakers as well as the Alpine versions for the doors and dash. I had the 6x4s and the door speakers installed for a long time and also left the factory tweeters installed. The sound was not great but a couple of weekends ago I installed the 4in versions in the dash and sound quality improved massively.

I am using the connectors in Cressa's first post but did need to splice into the factory wires to install the dash speakers, Factory tweeters have an in and out + crossover which you discard.

Connection update. I shall edit my last post as the small female spade connectors are too small but the 4mm ones fit the small connector. So I have just ordered some of the standard 6mm spades for the larger  terminal
