Roof rack - a crime I know

Recommended Posts

Not really a tuning issue, more a de-tune but does anyone know the best place to get a roof rack for the Corrado? Going canoeing / cycling more now and need one, was hoping one off a skoda / seat or something would fit instead so hopefully costing abit less than asking for a Corrado one.

Thanks.

There were genuine VAG ones made which look as about as good a a roof rack can on a Corrado. I'm not sure if they're still available from the stealers, but last time I asked they were about £130 :( They do appear on ebay from time to time but still get good money. The aftermarket (Thule I think) which are made from various parts from their range are also available but are not as pleasing to the eye IMHO. Good luck with the search took me months to get mine

Halfords do one for the Corrado.

Thule stuff comprising of:-

Traditional 761 bars -£24.99

Traditional 950 footpack - £44.99

Traditional 094 fitting kit (special order) - £28.51

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info, will have a look at the Halfords option a keep an eye on ebay. To be honest I thought the original VAG one would be over £200 so its not such a shock. Think I'm starting to get used to the Corrado cost of things, at least the credit is.

I had an original VAG one back in '91. They weren't that good. I used it for windsurfing and wished I'd spent the money on a Thule one instead.

As for looks, when you've got stuff on the rack who cares what it looks like as long as it's fit for purpose. It comes off as soon as you've finished the job in question!

I used mine (thule) for the first time this w/e, and I have to say i am very impressed! No marks left on the car and two mountain bikes transported to the new forest for a damn good blatt!

I'm suprised that Mr Haywire hasn't chipped in... he's got one that was good for transporting an entire fence, so it should be up to the job. No idea what it is or where it came from though.

Yeah I overloaded it somewhat! They're pretty darn strong those Thules.

The ebay link above is a bargain and it appears to come with the "short roof adapter bars", which I haven't got. I don't think they're essential.
