my "new" old motah now with new rims

Recommended Posts

well after spotting one of my old motors in the local rag for not much pennies......curiosity got the better of me and i went up to view it...purely just to see how the years had treated it.........bad move!........cos i'm now onto my 2nd stint of ownership of it! :D

here is it 10 years ago (just months previous to me P/ex-ing it for the original A2 GON )when it had 89k miles on it December 1994......its now on 114k miles which appear to be genuine as it was owned by the previous owner for near on 8 years and was just used as a weekend/fun car......btw its also had a plate change but all the documents show this......even has an old MOT cert from my tenure :D ........anyway it drives pretty decently and still has a nice bit of grunt to it....well it does have 160bhp afterall

anyway managed to get it on a classic car insurance policy for under £300 fully comp, its got MOT til April 2005 and the tax runs out end of sept  ........its not immaculate as such but is going to need some paint to the front especially the driver side wing's leading edge and the Tele-Dial alloys are going to need a refurb....but they still have the colour crest caps i fitted all those years ago  the interior is near enough mint barring a small bit of wear on the middle of the seat and carpets are as new and apart from a noisy fuel pump and a panicky oil pressure light(which i found out was a bad earth) i'm pretty chuffed with it....again

Nice one Rodders, looks fantastic. How you going to use it? For showing/weekends?

its going to need some lite restoration....it is afterall 18 years old now..........but i plan on getting it up to a "classic-car" show standard........but as its not my daily driver i have plenty of time....at the moment the tax runs out in sept....so dunno if its wise SORN it while i get some things attended to or get the front wing done ASAP and run it thru winter etc or just run it and save the pennies til i can afford to get it painted

If you don't need to run it and you have a nice dry garage to keep in, declare it SORN then you can do work on it as/when it's needed and there's not too much pressure on your wallet :) It's also a wee bit cheaper/quicker to get work done during the winter because it seems to be off season. It also means that you'll have all winter to get it in tip-top condition for next summer 8)

Nice one man! I saw my old Escort in Auto-trader last year for £400 and felt tempted to buy it for old time sake! Glad I didn't though - might have been a different story if it was a Porsche!

pretty good given that its almost into its second decade of being on the road  ...........drove the C today for the first time since picking up the 924 on thursday night and the C's performance is just amazing.....thats not to say the 924 is slow its just totally different to drive........in fact you sit so damn low in the 924 it makes going back into the C feel like you're in a Jeep!!!!

Nice looking car youve attained there, bet your well chuffed that it has stayed in good condition for its age. Am i right in saying thats the model VW was initially wanting the C to compete with?

Cheers Fraser

I think it was the 944 that they compared the aerodynamics to.

Surely the 924 was that much older than the corrado so kind of pointless competing with it?

sorry munkay but Karmann is spot on.............porsche killed off the 924S months before the Corrado was released as the Corrado was likely to take a few sales away from them given the near identical performance between them and the fact the Corrado was going to be a few thousand pounds cheaper............the Porsche 924S's final list price was near enough £21k+ whereas the C was £18k-ish

some new rims now................picked these up for an unbelievably decently low price from of all places my works internal message board :D

and btw.......the paint on the car does'nt look as good as the pics unfortuneatly :( .....tho the design 90's are in near mint condition apart from some minor corrosion on 1 rim and some small scratches on another
