dinkus 10 Posted September 25, 2004 I changed my fuel filter today (thanks Kev ;) ) and this is what the old one looked like inside... Funnily enough, my fuel pump doesn't make anywhere near as much noise now :D
Jim 2 Posted September 25, 2004 Jesus! It looks like a bog roll thats been dug up from a prehistoric swamp. Maybe its time for a fuel filter swap!!
dinkus 10 Posted September 25, 2004 Yeah it was pretty nasty and my C has only done 78k miles... the fuel pump was making a huge racket and I thought it was a gonner, but you can barely hear it now 8) I'd recommend the £8 on a fuel filter over a £100 pump ;)
Supercharged 2 Posted September 25, 2004 Easy job? Yeah but make sure you put the new hose clips on the hoses before connecting the new filter up
dinkus 10 Posted September 25, 2004 Easy job? Not too bad, but it depends on what style clips you have holding the thing in place. I had a plastic cage around the filter that was bolted to the car. The bolts came out OK, but apparently the type that have plastic clips as well are a git to get off. The hose clips are single use though, so you'll need some 10mm ish jubilee clips to clamp the hoses back on to the filter with. Oh and watch out for the petrol that pours out ;)
Jim 2 Posted September 25, 2004 Hahahah... yeah, thanks Steve. Amateur mechanics like me need to start somewhere.. and i'm sure you've made your fair amount of mistakes :) Unless dinkus made the same mistake I did when I was reattaching my split fuel hose that time? kangaroo 0 Posted September 26, 2004 Dinkus, did take any photos of the procedure? I wouldn't mind knowing how to do mine, and it could be one to add to the 'how-to' database?
jedi-knight83 0 Posted September 26, 2004 of course .... the old one being full of crud would have weighed more than the new one.... so you know...your car is probably sitting EVEN higher now

If I'd remembered to get my camera out I would have done, but it's really not very difficult. I'll take pictures of what it looks like under the car now and write it up :) of course .... the old one being full of crud would have weighed more than the new one.... so you know...your car is probably sitting EVEN higher now   yeah probably  And they are definitely the right suspension parts, if anybody has got the latest Sprinter (arrvied this week) then take a look at the ride height of the concourse C at the back ;)
