  1. Any idea how much the parts for a complete engine rebuild would be. I'm goin to do the chains soon, so might do everythig else at the same time.
  2. oh well. so much for thinking that any part for a VR is cheap.
  3. Hi there i need a new droplink on the passenger side because it snapped. Is ANTI ROLL BAR LINK ROD-FR the part i need. Its what GSF call it. £12.50????? Is it easy to fit????
  4. nice one for the replies. tissues were from a maccy's i had the other day. and no they were not in a shiny fancy gold coloured plastic box. why do people have them anyway?
  5. ok there was a pile of tissues in the tray under the glove box. i got in the car just now and they are soaking wet. Any ideas?????
  6. Hmmmmm well i replaced the oil cooler, flused out the cooling system, and the engine and all was fine for a day or so. Then it started loosing water. I'd fill it up in the mornin an drive to work (motorway) and it would be fine right untill i slowed down and stopped. Also happened a few times on other journeys, like from london back to liverpool it was fine untlii i slowed down to stop at some servces after about a hundred and fifty miles, then water was pouring out, and again when i slowed at the thelwall viaduct. Anyway i suspected the water pump had gone after reading a few recent posts and the location of the leak ( left hand side of engine), so i got a new one. Only thing is, now its stopped leaking all together. I havent put any water in for about 10 days. Now i'm confused. Coud it have been the coolant flush that messed something up. Thanks in advance Oh yea, even with all the trouble..........WOW!!!
  7. the metal mounting frame thing that the cone sits in was bet so i hit it wih a hammer an now its not, all fixed. cheers for the reply tho
  8. i got these fantastic old alpines in a new parcle shelf. the problem is that one is bust. there is tiny tear in the soft part of the cone at the edge and the whole cone wont move untill you turn it up really loud but then it just makes a horrible noise. the other cone moves freely and smoothly but this one kind of grinds (not the right word but can think) when you move it by hand. anyway is it possible to fix?????? cheers
  9. well after taking the ting off i found out water was comming out of just about everywhere. both hoses were split, one massively, like the whole length of the hose, and the seal on the screwy thing that bolts it to the engine was knackered aswell. order a new one i think. not as easy as you would think though. My nearest dealer, CORKILLS in liverpool and in wigan are fuckin shite. the stupid fucking dickheads wont let me order a part over the fuckin phone. instead the fuckers want me to fuckin drive all the way down to the fuckin shop an fuckin pay the full price, an then wait a few fuckin daysfor the arseholes to get the bits in then drive all the fuckin way back to the shitty shop and pick them up. fucking stupid wankers, what the fuck, i havent even got time to go once, never fuckin mind twice. why the fuck cant i just pay by fuckin card over the fuckin phone.me an my car are good fuckin buisness to their shitty company, what a bunch of twats aaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway, sorry for my little outburst, i hope the naughty word filter still works.
  10. certainly does help. the man from vw will be smiling when i present him with my steadily growing list. nice one.
  11. The drop link on the passenger side of my anti roll bar has snapped. its messing with the rubber boot of the CV joint. anyone know how much they cost? are they easy to fit?, i've never done one before.
  12. nope dont think so. there was water pouring out of the round screwy thing (technical term) and the seal is f**ked (technical term). i'll get a new one an stick it on. nice one for the help guys.
  13. just took it apart. think its an oil cooler. Any idea why water was comin out of it?????? a load of oil came out when i unscrewed it.
  14. its located at the front of the engine. the one on the right, not the thing with wires attached to it.
  15. anyone know where i can get this done in liverpool or somwhere near by
  16. i tried that on the a polo, just to see if it worked. it didnt, and i buggered both seals. Daft really but at least new caps dont cost to much.
  17. i'd imagine most of the cost would be labour charges as getting to the flywheel could be quite tricky. Not sure wether you need a whole new flywheel or not, but you might want to consider getting a lightened one while your at it. that is, if tuning is your thing.

    The MFA

MFA1 is a single journey memory. If the ignition is switched off for more than two hours then it will reset itself. MFA2 is a total journey memory. It takes into account all the single journey info to calculate its readings. You have to reset this one yourself. To reset them, have the ignition on and move the switch as far as it will go to the left for MFA1 or right for MFA2 and hold it there for longer than one second. The -40 reading is prob caused by a busted sensor, i dont know where its located, but find and clean or replace it and it should work again. Andy
  19. My Part number is 1HO 962 257 i think. some other numbers on there are 06/9310023 and PP GF 30.
  20. The bearings i got for £40 + vat each. fitted in a garage owned by a bloke i know in london, he has a press. had a hard time getting the left side apart cos everythin was seised together. a big hammer was needed. the noise was allot better after. i still get quite allot of tyre noise but less of the werring rumbling sound. there was another post somewhere about tyre noise, some seem to be louder than others. ive only ever had yoko's on mine so i dont really know
  21. i got the same problem but my pass window still works from the drivers side at the mo. have to look into ot at the weekend. i must be somthin to do with a switch, relat or fuse.
  22. Where do i find the pump for the central locking. i need to get the part numbers an try to source one from a scrap yard, stealers want £280!!! do they use the same pump on other cars like golfs an the likes as corrado's in scrap yards are few and far between.
  23. Discs and pads would have to be very badly worn, more likely just your wheele bearings. just had mine done. how much did they charge you??
  24. Nice one for the info. thanks
