  1. What about the sidelight wires?

To each 4 pin plug there is a thin grey/red wire which connects just to the sidelight bulb.... I've got little wires running from my original loom plugs to the headlights for the sidelight...

I didnt touch any of that circut, just the feed for the dip and main beam so im not sure about that.

The loom I made is exactly the same as the one I bought for my old Rado and I fitted it in exactly the same way, hence why i'm confused!!

  2. Nah, it's not a genuine exhaust dude, when I sold it to you I told you it needed replacing - I'm suprised you've managed to make it last this long :)

On closer inspection it appears to be the joint between the middle box and back box has worked loose so I think its just a case of tightening it up a bit!! :)

BTW - I'm thinking of popping down to Salt for a pint or two later if you fancy it?

Id love to mate but we are off to Dublin for a long weekend as of tomorrow. Shame, would have been nice to catch up with you guys!

Perhaps later in the year we should organise a little forum piss up!

  3. VW exhausts are really good usually - I had a Golf on it's original system for nearly 150k miles - it needed a backbox at 145k

Are you sure they are genuine - pattern replacements only last 3-4 years usually...

Pretty sure, I just think I have a run of bad luck!

  4. And you left the sunroof in my fecking back garden!

It might be worth mentioning, that Chaz was on a strip of private runway that runs parallel to the A30 cruising at around 120MPH when it happened, so it's not something that you need to add to your list of paranoias whilst on the motorway under more 'normal' speeds

I've been down that stretch of 'private' road, its a beauty!

Seriously tho, that bloody strange! You sure its not an ejector seat?

  5. What is it with VW Exhausts? 5 out of the 11 cars I have owned have been VW's (old and new) and all 5 the bloody exhausts have given up, the other 6 random makes have given me no exhaust problems at all!!

So I jumped in the Rado this morning, turned the key and she's now farting and popping like she had a curry last night!! Just what I need after the most expensive time of year!!

Lets hope it holds out for the rest of the week!!

    God I love Dubs!

  6. LowG, Thanks bud, so really when your talking bang for bucks 16v seems to win every time.

I was thinking about going down the 20vt route purely because its a more modern engine, however, it does make sense to use the existing valver lump I already have!!

How essential is it to upgrade the internals?

  7. LowG, Great info there mate, its making me think twice about going 20vt!

In your experience what kinda money are we looking at for an approx 350BHP setup, Just a ballpark figure for parts alone?

How is reliability affected when compared to fitting a 20vt motor?
