  5. Happy to post? Ill take them please..
  6. Good work Jim.. Sure it will be a satisfying moment when you are all done...
  7. Id get the MOT done first, at least you then have a year to do the job...

    Hi I'm new

Welcome along.. Key questions for you, which engine, standard of some modifications and the money, whats the budget? Good luck in your quest...
  9. 2 wheels joined the BBS in there winter coats today.. No prizes for guessing what that meant, yes the car won.. Beam off, the NS mounting bracket bolt is such a pain but i got there. So now its off, well it would be rude not to. So full refurb will be done, strip, blast, new bushes (again), paint, new brake lines etc.. Wasn't part of the plan but never mind.. Thats the exhaust off up to the cat and the heat shields, will start at the down pipe tomorrow.. Floor pan looking very good. Nice to have a chance to inspect the areas that are normally hidden. The toothbrush and degreaser will be out before any bits go back on…
  10. Good stuff Jim.. Soon be up and running again...
  11. I just saw this on Edition.. thats an awful thing to happen.. Im genuinely gutted for you Steve..
  12. There is a flange just in front of the cat that i can try and split.. Ill have another look tomorrow to see if I'm missing a trick.. Have spoken to a supersprint supplier and am expecting to hear back on availability of the centre section and correct clamps..
  13. No idea, all i know it sound like the only way of achieving a durable pretty finish..
  14. Ive just had a look. If i split the exhaust at the down pipe it doesn't look like ill be able to move the exhaust that much further forward and get the room i need.. Options: 1. cut the mid pipe and replace. I think ill be buying a new one anyway and having it ceramic coated. 2. Drop the beam, if i do that ill end refurbing it again. 3. 1 and 2 This is when jobs start to grow arms and legs..
  15. The brake lines are going, food for though Sean.. I think they are fitted to a bracket on the rear engine mount.. That will help..
  16. Id prefer not to drop the beam as it doesn't need to come off for any work.. Ill have a look at the down pipe tomorrow and see where that will leave me. Can i disconnect the lambda wiring in the engine bay so i don't have to try and remove it from the exhaust? Once I've got that off all the heat shields will be coming off. Back box off for polishing on Friday..
  17. For the exhaust? The joint is lose, i just can't get the pipe to slide back enough for the beam.. Ill probably split it at the down pipe and then should be ok, it all needs to come off anyway...
  18. Well its definitely off the road.. Rear silencer off, it will be going to be professionally brush polished soon.. Rear heat shield off and look to be in good shape, hope the rest follow suit.. I split the exhaust after the cat but can i get it off with the rear beam in place, no. Any clues? There just isn't room to move it toward the back of the car without fouling on the beam to lift it clear of the cat.. The pile of bits for powder coating is starting to grow as well, bumpers coming off shortly and the irons will be joining the pile..
  19. The handles look and operate so much better than the others and I'm pleasantly surprised by the ambers, enough so that there are some brand new ones waiting to go on.. The RS work so well, i am so pleased with them, is a sin in a way to use them as they do pick up little marks as with all wheels and once split and refurbed then they will lose there original status..
  20. Nice to meet you to Mark… We did get summonsed onto another field ready to line up for the stage bit hence the absence..
  21. Thanks very much on the comments.. Garage yes, heated no, character building, in alls seriousness its built into the house so isn't too bad. Prize, yes i was runner up Corrado, chuffed to bits with that as the standard was high, the winners Corrado was great. I like the detail behind the front wheels, The RSs just show a tiny bit to the trained eye..
  22. I am dreading this job.. I know opinions will vary but dash in, dash out. Best to take front seats out for access.. What do you think, i want to make this as painless as possible..
  23. So today marks the beginning of another winter maintenance session. I have thoroughly enjoyed using the car over the last few months and have attended 9 shows in all, 6 of which i have been fortunate to take home a prize. The weekend rounded it all off very nicely at E38 where i bumped into and spoke to quite a few members from here and owners of some great cars. So good to see so many outstanding cars and without the scene rubbish that so many speak of about the Edition 38 show. I would definitely go again.. Plans for the winter, some nice jobs and some awful ones.. Heater matrix change, new driveshafts, wishbone refurb, exhaust rejuvenation, all heat shields off for vapour blasting, complete front end refresh, new brake lines and a lot of tidying up should keep me busy for a while.. Couple from yesterday..
  24. I feel the days of ebay and forums have eaten into auto jumble sales.. I don't think I've ever scored any parts at a show but I'm probably guilty of not really having a proper look. I go with the 'anything worth having will be gone' or ill find it on line attitude.. Depending on how long you'd be coming for id try and overlap a few shows (august maybe) to make the most of your trip..
