    15" steels

I tried them on the car to try and get a better idea but if anything its confused me more lol, hence this thread. I didn't want to shell out on tyres and then not like them.

    15" steels

I've got a set of wheels here that i was going to fit on my other car, then decided against it. I thought i would save them for the mk1 Golf i was looking to buy but i ended up buying a Corrado. They are 15" Weller steel wheels, i think the design is called 'motorsport'. I was thinking 15's may look a little too small for the size of the Corrado, specially in black. Silver may look 'bigger' but ive not long paid £120 to have them powdercoated black so i would prefer not to have them done again. I'm tempted to get rid and find some nice 16/17" deep dish wheels, maybe splits. Here's a couple of pics of the 15's, what are peoples thoughts?
  5. I've been looking at my lights today and i think i might be onto something. The reason the reflective material comes so easily off the reflector body itself, with water ingress or tape for example, is because there is no key for it to bite onto and there's no clear coat to protect it. The reflective coating just sits on top if an amber coloured primer/laquer that's really smooth. This primer isn't on the back of the reflector body, but some overspray of the reflective material is. It's not as shiny as on the front of the reflector, a dull silver rather than chrome finish, but it wont pull off with a strip of tape like the stuff on the front. I've used a chrome effect paint a few years ago, the parts were prepped well with a good key and it looked pretty good. After a coat of laquer it turned to a dull silver finish which was a little irritating but it needed the clear coat as it was on an interior handle and would be taking a fair bit of abuse. The reflectors are pretty well protected inside the lamp so shouldnt require the clear coat . Tomorrow i'll try applying this chrome effect paint like VW have with theirs (no key to the surface as well as no protective clear coat) and let people know what kind of results i get.
  6. I got a JOM eyebrow grill and i used the rubber washers under the top 2 tabs (mines early) and the screws go through the plastic tabs and the washer and into the slam panel. The top tabs and slam panel needed pilot holes drilling and i used a blob of grease on the threads to keep the rust away. Once the middle of the grill was properly secured the eyebrow held itself in place after i tucked it in behind the leading edge of the wings.
  7. anyone got any idea, it would be much appreciated.
  8. The cheapest place i have found for a decent battery is Costco, they do Bosch Silver for less than my local factors want for a cheapo battery.
  9. The rad fan and cowling need replacing on my car, 1800 16v, does it share these parts with anything else in the VW family?
  10. I was just going to spray mine silver as i have one headlight starting to go manky and the other has half of the reflective material completley missing where the lens has been cracked. its a yellow/brown colour now. I'm hoping they paint up and work ok with an uprated loom and bulbs, i will let people know. Also, I had also read somewhere VW no longer did the headlight lenses. I went into VW today and asked, and they do. I just have to wait a few days for it to come in from abroad.
  11. sounds like a VR6 lump with a turbo fitted
