  1. Got the news today that my engine is not cost effective to repair :( Apparently where the intermediate shaft fits into the block the hole has been enlarged so when the shaft is in there, it is not a snug fit, quite loose. They say it would need a rebore and sleeve made at a further cost of around a £1000. Anyone got any ideas where I can locate a VR6 engine from near Cheshire,Staffordshire? Can a 2.8 engine fit? are these easier to find?
  2. Look at my post here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59951 Sounds similar
  3. If you see my thread here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59951 Mine was'nt getting enough oil to the head and no Oil Warning light came on.
  4. Thanks for the replies. The garage doing the work is W H Jervis anyone heard anything bad? I have used them before for TDI cambelts. Any tips on parts I should ask them to change while its in bits? Thanks
  5. Hi All, My recently purchased VR6 with only 78k miles needs a £1400 repair :( While driving back from Wales my VR suddenly stalled while driving down a hill, This surprised me as it's an Automatic. I immediately pulled over and tried to restart it which it did first turn but the top end noise sounded horrible so I turned it straight off. I checked the oil on the dipstick and it was fine, opened the oil filler cap and noticed there was not much oil so I called the AA. When they eventually turned up and heard the noise he said it sounded like the oil pump had gone and they put it on a low loader. I mentioned this to local VW specialist and he said it sounded more like the pickup pipe was blocked and todrop it off at them. Yesterday I got a phone call saying it would be £1200+VAT. When I asked why he said the 'shaft with gear' on the top of the block had siezed and had worn away the teeth on the 'Intermediate Shaft' :( Now very depressed I asked him why that would cost this much: They will be replacing the timing chains, oil pump, intermediate shaft etc..... How does this price sound? Anybody else ever heard of this kind of thing? Sorry for the long post
  6. Cheers. M3 style rear lights, exhaust, side repeaters and maybe alloys to start.
  7. Thats the one, a complete bargain. It was exactly as described with every MOT. In the last 5 years its done 10k miles. When I turned up at his house he had a Ferrari Testarosa and a Twin Turbo Supra as his other cars.
  8. Hi All, I just bought this on Sunday 1994 VR6 Auto with just 77,000 miles.
