  1. Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately I didn't take any pics and have removed it all this afternoon, mfa temps are back to normal so the sender isn't broken. I do the same journey to work every day and know what the temp readings are at different points of my journey so I know when I can play. Early morning start so no hold ups either so it was easy to see the readings were different.

I think I agree with what your saying David, might remove the oil pressure sender on the filter housing instead.

Does anyone know if it's okay to swap the oil temp and oil pressure senders over on the filter housing as it's moch more convenient to use the front port?

  2. Hi

Firstly my oil temp on the MFA of my G60 has been working perfectly until after the work I did on the car today.

I decided to fit an oil pressure gauge to my car. So, the easiest way to connect the oil pressure sender to the oil flow was to use a gauge adaptor on top of the oil filter housing, specifically moving the oil temperature sender into the adaptor and screwing the adaptor into the vacated port.

But, the MFA now reads approximately 20 degrees less than it should.

The oil temp sender has only been raised by about an inch so I don't understand why it's reading so low.

    Any ideas?

  3. Hi

    Got the codes out today.

    2234

    1233

    1241

    1311

    1243

The last 4 are the wheel sensors which is strange for them to be all broken. I will do the multimeter test as a check.

I have no idea what 2234 refers to though.

Might be removing the ABS light and putting it back in a drawer for another 3 years. :D

    Cheers

  4. Thank for that. I'll give it a go next weekend if the snow buggers off.

Managed to flash the codes after a google search. Have hopefully cleared the codes and will get some new ones after driving to work tomorrow.

I just hope it's as simple as replacing a wheel sensor. Knowing my G60 it's gonna be a bit more involved than that.

    Cheers for your help.

  5. Hi

Thought today would be a good time to fix my ABS on my 92 G60. Only had the car 3 years, so it's not taken me long to get around to it. :D

ABS light is permanently illuminated when the ignition is on.

Thought there was some way to manually get the ABS fault codes out by shorting some connectors and counting the flashes of the ABS light.

Can't seem to find the specifics, can anyone help please?

  6. Hi

    Simple one really.

Want to bleed the brakes and clutch on my G60, have got an Eezibleed so just really want to know what order you do it in?

I would guess, Mastercylinder, clutch, front left, rear right, front right then rear left.

I seem to recall something about a load bias valve but not sure I'd know what to do with it if I saw one.

    Any tips would be appreciated.

P.S. What are your recommendations for the pressure when using the Eezibleed?

  7. Noooooo! Such a lovely car. I was lucky enough to see it in the flesh.

Indeed do go and buy an old banger and drive that for a while until you decide on the right course of action.

Thanks Shaun, I'm sure that driving a wreck for a few days will give me the incentive to do the right thing.

wild turkey you nutter had that a couple of times always with bad results.

I agree, very potent stuff but the best for situations like this. Well worth shelling out for, if you can find it.

  8. Hi Guys

The initial pain has subsided now just a little numb I guess. Cheers for the sympathy it's really appreciated but in reality it's still only a car. If that's the most I have to grumble about this year then I'm doing well.

I don't want to get rid of my G60 as I love it, just weighing up my options.

I've been reading up on Rotrex, Lysholm and Eaton and recond' G60's. Not really sure where to go as they all have their downsides. Might just buy an old banger with a years mot so I have time to decide.

  9. Arse! - when was it last serviced?

Don't know offhand without checking through the history.

Darren had a quick look over it when he did my water pump and cambelt last year, looked okay then.

Would have had it rebuilt early next year anyway just to be safe.

    Just one of those things.

Always had a tiny thought when looking at other peoples blown chargers that the car may have been mistreated. But I treat mine like a baby and I'm sure the others did as well.

Where's my insurance certificate and the can of petrol/matches. :(

  10. Hi Guys

Might have enjoyed my last run in my G60 today. Treated her with all due care and attention only to have the grating sound of a blown charger this morning. Breakdown guy was great, got me home asap. Feeling a little down after putting in so much hard work this summer. Need to take a step back and re-evaluate what to do. Would like to thank everyone on here for all the help you've given me over the 2 years of ownership. :notworthy: My only regret is I never got it finished to a show worthy state.

Just a couple of pics before I find the Wild Turkey bottle.

  11. Hi

Not been able to find a definite answer to this.

I'm going to make myself a 4 way adaptor to fit an oil pressure gauge sender and temp gauge sender to my G60. (CNC turner/miller by trade)

4 way because I'll need to temporarily remove a sender from my car, have a male M10x1 thread on the adaptor and 3 female threads to accomodate the original sender and the 2 new ones for the gauges. (phew!are you bored yet?)

My question is this (knew I'd get there in the end)....where is the best location for this?

The only real options are the oil temperature sender on the filter housing or the supercharger feed line port on the side of the head.

It makes no difference to me which I use as I'm making the part to fit, just want to chose the best one really.

    Cheers

  12. Hi

Systematically going all through my car bits and putting it back together.

Found this piece of plastic which fell down in the drivers footwell about 6 months ago and I haven't got a clue where it goes.

    What.jpg

    Part number is 536 971 825.

    Any ideas?

  13. Hi

Just fitted a new heater matrix to my car. Took the coil off to gain better access to the hoses and the bloody thing has fallen down, broken an earth strap and disconnected some wires.

    Can you help please.

Where does the earth strap connected to the coil go?

Where does the white connector with green wire go?

Where does the black wire connector go?

Where does the black round connector go?

    Question.jpg

    Thanks

  14. Thanks for your advice.

I've done a lot of research since my question was posted and now realise what a daft question it was, obviously the heater matrix is tightly fitted inside the heater exchange box.

I managed to pick up a heater exchange unit box complete with sliders and cables. Cleaned it all out and made sure the foam is good. (replaced one bit) greased up the cables and checked the fitment operates the flaps correctly. Fitted a brand new heater matrix (nothing wrong with the old one but for £40 it's better to do it now)

I have the centre console, dash undertrays, glove box, air ducting and passenger seat all removed.

I've checked the 3 bolts in the engine bay and they undo fine without problems.

So I'm waiting for the weekend when I can hopefully remove the old one without resorting to taking out the whole dash and refitting the spare one that I have.

I know some have managed to do it like this and others have had to remove the whole dash. It's about time this car gave me a bit of a break and this weekend would be a good time to start.

    Cheers

  15. Hi

I've an early model C and my air flow direction controller box destroyed itself today. I was going to work and changed the air flow to the windscreen, funny noise followed by lots of foam pieces blowing in the cabin.

Closer inspection revealed the little cogs around the back at weird angles and the box has pulled away from the vent housing behind the centre console.

Can I remove the controller and replace it without removing the heater matrix or are they fixed together?

I really don't want to be doing the heater matrix at this time of year.

    Thanks

    ST

  16. Just been out with a multimeter and the connector is joined to the glove box light.

So I would assume it is a switched live for maybe illuminating the optional voltage/oil temp/pressure dials or something like that.

Definately nothing to worry about anyhow.

Might help someone in a future search.
