  1. One thing Brentacre said to me, which I thought was great, was that while they don't tend to offer agreed valuation policies, they do actively pursue the stated value of the car through the insurance company the policy is with - eg, providing ebay/forum/autotrader links to similarly modded cars to show the actual street value rather than just the parkers etc.

Again, I have no idea who to believe, Brentacre, or Flux who offered me an agreed valuation policy, albeit for about £50 more than the Brentacre quote. Would be interested to hear some more experiences of people who've had to actually claim on an agreed value policy?

  2. Interesting, I was speaking to Gary at Brentacre today and he told me they very rarely do agreed valuations - pretty much only for concourse/magazine cover cars. He said that the whole "agreed value" thing is often not worth the paper it's written on (I am paraphrasing), which I thought was interesting.

Has anyone with an "agreed value" on their policy ever had their car written off and got the full agreed value back (less excess)?

  3. I'd def lose the eyebrow - go old skool /OEM+ on the wheels (BBS or something) - make it a performance machine rather than something that looks good but you can't drive without worrying about the cops or handling!

  4. Well, after sending back the late-spec indicator to ECP, I quizzed Hella who said they had no L/H but 2 R/H ones (obviously I need L/H) and told me to speak to my local Hella dealer to confirm they had the right part no. Went to Andrew Page's and it turns out the woman at Hella, who was very helpful but didn't have a car gave me the wrong part no. Page's rang Hella and came back with a big no. No more L/H ones at Hella either. Bother. I'll settle for a decent nick second hand one, that isn't full of mould!

  5. I didn't have any membranes either - just take the door card off, and silicone/tape a thick rubble bag over the door, making sure it's good and sealed all the way round. Put the door card back on and bob's your mother's brother!

  6. Wow, some quite unexplained Tiff hate going on in here!

Either of you care to elaborate, Alexander / VW domo?

Something about him just rubs me up the wrong way - could be his voice, he just sounds so smug all the time! And he never really seems to have any respect for the cars he drives, if that makes sense. I can't watch the guy!
