Hmmm.. the autocar report lists "64mph" as the top speed in 2nd, at 6900 rpm. Methinks our optimistic speedos are giving us the wrong idea, OR they changed the gear ratios... And Jedi I can well believe the Schrick takes a second off it - cos you'd have to be in 2nd from the rolling start and the standard engine doesn't start to pull hard till 36/37mph in 2nd ... :)
-
Most likely. Another reason why the VR does so well in this statistic...
-
I've seen 6.2, but the most often quoted one is 6.4s. VW quoted 6.9 s, IIRC, but that would have been with 75% fuel load and two passengers...
-
That 30-70 time never really impressed me, I didn't realise how fast it really was. I just remember the stats on the Lotus Carlton with it's 3.8 seconds 30-70 time, which kinda ruined my appreciation of 5.7s! Perspective is hard to come by in performance figures!! :)

Whats the highest ouput (BHP) you can get out of a g60?????

And if they did, would they be unable to move? Your G60 has a power-to-wheels of 165bhp, Sandy, that's a good figure, better than a standard VR6 when it leaves the factory, but only by 1-2bhp. -
Yeah, hasn't your engine block got 250k on it? Did you ever swap the oil pump?
-
If you have the opportunity to replace the MAF on a "try it and see" basis, it's got to be worth it. The readings you're getting seem to be on the high side, but I've not looked into what VAGCOM normally reports, so I can't say for sure. Presumably you've checked for air leaks right through the system, from the MAF to the catalyst..?
-
The ECU ignores the lambda during the cold-start cycle, and overfuels in an effort to heat the catalyst. Any lambda readings during the first two minutes are completely pointless... Does vagcom show the voltages from the lambda or some other indexed value?
-
Temp sensors? anything related to poor running "only when cold" or "only when hot" could be worth trying the temp sensors..

I think 4 ISVs can't all be broken...

You only slipped the guy a fiver, obviously.. ;) Transmission losses: http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/trans.htm This suggests 10% + 10 bhp for a typical FWD car is reasonable. The maths works out for "standard" engines and standard Corrado top speeds, so it's very plausible. Make of it what you will... -

I'm sure the 175.5 bhp at the wheels was pretty near to correct.... Interesting that we're suggesting that the tyres, drive shafts, gearbox and diff absorbed 70bhp (if so, how does a 1.1 fiesta actually MOVE at all?). -
Yeah, the sender unit should be ok for fitting onto the new pump from the dealer. The GSF pump comes with a new gauge sender unit too.
-
Doesn't look right to me. (Thinking back I don't think I saw the GSF one they put in, but I saw another one they had delivered and it looked more like the one on the left...)
-
Sounds like a VR6 pump, 1HO is the prefix for VR6 parts..
-
I've got a GSF pump in mine, looked the same as the old one. Worked fine for 4 months, then started to make a high pitched noise... :( I wish I'd paid the extra tenner and bought one from VW too!!!
-
Most people get the same experience.. with new wipers, that is.. Come back in 6 months time (even if you never use them).. :( Worth doing, nonetheless, but the VW blades don't last long.
-
They should look exactly the same ... any differences in weight should be minimal! Where did you get the new pump from?
-
You either cut the pipe or you drop the rear axle... And those rear axle bush bolts can be complete nightmares if they've never been removed. Good time to get the rear axle bushes changed anyway, if they haven't already been done! :)
-
You'd be surprised - I've often been tempted to pull alongside and advise they do something about it!
-
It's surprising (and slightly worrying) the number of people you see driving around with wheels clearly undamped...
-
The big trouble with big wheels, is you then have to upgrade the brakes. Cos otherwise they look completely ridiculous..... :)

The general advice on VR spark plugs is to stick to the NGK ones as supplied by the dealer.. optionally get the same-spec NGK platinum ones.
