  1. good ol NTL or Virgin or whatever they call them selves now took my broad band down. Anyhow ....no joy engine just spins back in the direction that i amtrying to wrench. .. I'll need a driving refresher course by the time I'm done.
  2. right. when i try and undo the bolts on the crank pulley the engine just spins anticlockwise . Any suggestion. I put the plugs back in in a vain attempt to get compression but that didn't work.
  3. yeah, sorry I found it b4 you posted. Going blind. doh. All marks line up on cam sprocket crank shaft and fly wheel etc so i can re-new my belt and tensioner 2morrow. :D Do you know if a special tensioner tool is required,or can you improvise in some way. fond this on the web, scuse the ugly link. http://www.toolsnstuff.co.uk/product_in ... s_id=19992
  4. There is suppose to be a viewing hole so that I can see the timing mark on fly wheel. Can someone Pleeasseeeee explain how I get to it . thnks
  5. thnks but no thnks,I have already bought the stuff and plan 2 fit it 2morrow. I havn't driven the thing all week and I have withdrawl. 8)
  6. re link below.. http://upload.the-corrado.net/files/58/all photos 509.jpg where will I find mark 4 ? Where is that hole,on the drive belt cover? Also do I need a special timing belt tensioner tool,if so where can I get one from? thnks
  7. I started it up ;started to reverse out and thought "NAaah that don't sound rite!!!!!" The belts so shiny i can see my face in it. :?
  8. Engine still running like s*^te (see other thread) I am also hearing an intermittent clatter. The engine seems to run smoother in the instances when it stops clattering. I took the drive belt cover off and I am pretty sure I saw some smoke coming from the drive belt tensioner. Warn bearings maybe... See picture ,the gap around the middle part of the tensioner seems un-even? I guess I should change this out?!?? I can't be sure but the noise I was hearing was from this vicinity. Also there seems to be an awful lot of play on this unit. The bolt is fastened to 45nm but the external part of the unit is wobbly.
  9. I took off cam pulley cover ,jacked up car took off driver side wheel and had a good look at the pulleys. Couldn't see much wrong. Turn car over and let it run and couldn't see much to elaborate on the situation. what am I looking for? I have changed the vacuum hose between the FPR and the throttle body. It seemed to improve the issue at first but then the car started to wobble again. ? cheers
  10. I have found a spilt hose. Between the fuel pressure regulator and air intake manifold,so fingers crossed this fix my running woes. p.s Is there a special tool to get those metal fastenings off.? I used a dremel on the ones on my ISV but these ones are in a more arkward place. samg60 if probs still persist what am I looking for with the crank pulley.Excessive play? grazie.
  11. I found a post by flusted where apparently u can read the fuel mixtyure settings indirectly using a multimeter so that should give me something to do this weekend along with checking the pulleys....
  12. samg60, Also it looks like the belt has shifted over to the left i.e towards the filter. I can see more of the teeth underneath the belt than I could b4. Does this back up what u were saying above? question for everyone. Have alot of u invested in gas analyser for your pet pride and joys? Coz from what i have read in the manual and on the web etc you need one to check the CO content.!? Sorry 4 the newbie questions. ta.
  13. engine sounds worse 2day,and every now and then I get a kind of clatter sound coming from the top end, seems to be coming from near the timing belt area but I may be wrong. :( My precious C. I will check the CO,just as soon as i figure out how. thnks for feedback.
  14. So my jreg g60 is a tad chuggy at the mo.(engine rocking around under the bonnet threating to stall at idle ,hesitation and flat spots at low revs till about 3k rpm). It is running a 68mm pully. I have cleaned the ISV as a few threads on here seemed to have success with that.Alas no good. I decided to check the plugs(newley installed plat tips as per bentley manual). The ends of the spark plugs are completely black with soot. I have read that this could be down to... air/fuel mixture too rich: (I'm running a jabba sport chip). weak ignition: I have recenty changed the plugs,I guess I should maybe have changed the leads too?!??? Wrong heat range on plugs: should i upgrade from the standard plugs to the W5DPO G40 spark plugs? Thnks in advance.
  15. yeah, both the old and the new black sensor was open circuit. Both the blue sensors are in the 1.7-2.4 k ohm range. I think the blue ones are fine when I disconnect the blue one the engines running note drops etc... So yeah the reading on the black one seems strange. I did however swap the black and blue sensors around but the temp gauge still didn't budge. This test would only be valid if they have similar resistances at a given temperature, I guess they do as everyone says to do this test!?!!?
  16.  alas your advise about waiting for the engine to cool down came to late  Oh well you live and learn. Yandards yes info was from the Bentley manual,I will bear what u said in mind. g60_91 yes mate colours on the wire are the same. p.s try gsf next time for the blue sensor, fair bit cheaper. I changed both the blue and the black sensor but still the cool temp clock does not budge :0(
  17. cheers. I watched your snow clip btw. That engine sounds menacing.
  18. I'm in the process of cleaning out the ISV. Do you think it is ok to go back into the vehicle?
  19. pls see attached picture. Is that hole there by design ? Thnks in advance.
  20. I think I'll fit a new chip first and then take it to a place in Reading I found 2 check what numbers she is making and maybe ask if they can check the timingetc.
  21. My g60 is ruuing a jabbasport chip/pulley,and has had a stage4 re-build. The car hunts a bit now, which I guess is to be expected to a certain extent with the new chip etc. A friend recommended that as the car is now non-factory that i should get it tunded on the rolling road. When I went to an establishment in Slough they said that there wasn't much in terms of tuning they could do?!????? :?: So..my question is, Do you think I should get my car tuned and if so what should I expect that they will achieve from this?!
  22. Hi Having same prob with my jreg 92 g60 i.e temp gauge needle does not move. The black sensor has an infinite resistance i.e it is open circuit across its two terminals. The blue sensor incidentally was 1.7 k ohms. Is this the sort of region the black one should be in? I guess the black one is duff?!?!!! p.s I was reading the factory manual. It shows the coolant temperature send unit connected to this gauge. It has the wire colours as y/r. The wires going to the black unit are not yellow and red. Has anyone else come cross these types of discrepancies I'm looking in the carrdo 1991-1992 engine code pg section, which should relate to my C.
