  1. I learnt quite a bit watching this chap 'The Humble Mechanic' - one of his projects 'The White Wookie' ended up as a Mk3 VR6T after a full engine rebuild.

    His channel is at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2gRQKQgI3CsrcnMuHPyYsQ

Non car related, I like a bit of Sci Fi, so I am also watching the Mandalorian (the new Star Wars) on Disney+ and I'm also working my way through The Expanse on Amazon.

  2. Without upsetting anyone, I'm on the other side of the coin. I've been a regular member on here for years, I try and help where I can & post information when I get it but I am not a member of CCGB for do I ever plan to be. In my early days of corrado ownership I found some members quite rude when meeting them at shows and didn't really get a warm welcome, to this day I still get snubs about my car despite it being IMO tastefully modified. As a long running owner it doesn't bother me but this would be frustrating to new owners and definitely drive them away.

I've spoke to quite a few corrado owners on my travels that share the opinion of us & them. The forum is the place for modifying, CCGB is for the purists and for a merge to work CCGB needs to change. I've met a few people recently that have been very pleasant and things like the road trip are good ideas but this needs to continue and IMO, CCGB needs to become more like this forum, a place to discuss ham & cheese related daft things, share modifying ideas and also help people out.

    Hey,

We met at Harewood House 2018 - I remember your car, apart from being red (best colour) I was thinking at the time i'd love that lump under my bonnet. Problem is my 12V is running fine, so can't justify it.

Not sure I agree with your comment that CCGB needs to become more like CF, conversely I'm not suggesting the CF needs to become more like CCGB, the fact is we all love the Corrado. The only slight difference is some like to modify, whilst others like to keep it strictly OEM. Shouldn't be an issue and suggest that comments should be kept positive in both directions.

In my opinion, I'm not sure the OEM/modify spilt is so obvious nowadays. I suggest there are 'good' Corrado (well built/maintained) or 'bad' Corrado (rust buckets that sound like a tractor). There are very few Corrado I don't like, I just draw the line at cars such as the old Max Power Corrado (I seem to remember it was bright pink at one point).

What I am keen to do is undo any bad feeling from previous years, which frankly is a real shame. As mentioned above, VW don't seem to care about the Corrado, so it is down to the committed few to keep the Corrado out on the road.

What I would say is CCGB has changed for the better. I'll be honest, I wasn't massively impressed when I first introduced myself many years ago. That said, we nowadays have a really friendly bunch of members and plans to get out there and enjoy clocking up some miles as well as a few shows along the way.

I am a massive fan of the Corrado Forum as a source of reference. It also seems to be a great place to chat about cheese... :-) All I would ask is people don't write off the CCGB based on past experience. I suggest there is benefit in supporting both CF and CCGB.

  3. Firstly – thank you Corrado Forum for the years of late night reading of random threads. I really hope this forum is around for years to come.

Whilst I’ve not been on CF for as long as some, I do know the merge of CF and CCGB has been mentioned several times over the years, but for various reasons never happened.

Having read this thread, I decided to pose the question to our committee and the initial responses have been really positive (most of us have used CF over the years). I therefore suggest it makes absolute sense for us to have an initial chat to scope the art of possible – thoughts?

I suggest this is a really good time as well. CCGB is growing steadily (both free Facebook and paid full membership), we continue to have good attendance at shows/events, several socials this year and we ran a couple of fantastic road trips to Wales and Cornwall (Lake District and Wales in 2020). Some of you may also have noticed, in the background we have just launched our new website, much improved and now secure. What we haven’t managed to sort yet is a replacement for our old forum or create a new wiki…. hence reaching out now with this post.

One thing I would like to raise - it concerns me to read comments such as: ‘they’re proud and protective of their club to the point it’s more important than the Corrado itself. Since I’ve been here there’s not been too much harmony between the two’

Yes we are very proud and protective of CCGB, but I simply don’t agree with the rest of the comment. Even if that was true in the past, let’s put any such nonsense behind us. I can categorically state there is no ‘us and them’ from our perspective – we are all passionate about the Corrado – so let’s have a chat.

Let me know how best to get in touch and when is convenient.

    Regards,

  4. Hi

They probably wont go up on the current site as the new website should be live by the time stock arrives. I will update once they are on there. They can be ordered via phone until then or i can put an order on for you.

    Hi Anna,

Is Heritage still planning to stock more Spoonfed items? If so, do you know roughly when?

    Thanks, James

  5. Hi Richard,

as far as I'm aware there's no seal on the rear screen, it's bonded like the front windscreen I believe.

But the rear screen does have a rubber surround seal trim, if that's the one you mean, which is meant to stop dirt/moisture sitting in cavity around tailgate window frame.

The rubber surround seal trim is I think part number 535 853 355A 01C

Only problem is it's been obsolete now for more then 10 years, if yours is removed carefully it can possibly be reused.

Also you could try SONAX rubber treatment or similar as it can help to preserve the life of exterior rubber trims.

    Si

Not used SONAX products before, having had a quick look I found a stick version, rubber treatment with foam applicator, or exterior plastic treatment gel?? Which one works best?

  6. When I bought the car about 2.5 years ago, the seller did a deal for the car and a stash of spares - so not sure how much they cost.

In no rush to sell, but I am wondering if I'll ever need them as the ones on the car are pretty good?

Hopefully Classic Parts will remake the window scrappers for you all - good luck!

  7. I’ve no idea on what they are worth, are you selling a set?

I've got a brand new set (both sides) that I planned to keep for an eventual full respray, but the ones on the car at the moment are pretty good to be honest (just depends if I can get them off without bending them).

Really depends what they are worth?

  8. Anyone had any luck finding somewhere with OEM / Hella replacement radiator in stock for a VR6?

I believe the Hella radiators are now obsolete, I looked around and everywhere shows out of stock. I'm sure I also saw a post that someone had contacted Hella who confirmed they are no longer into coolant parts and no plans to make any more rads.

Couple of us on CCGB FB have been considering get a price for a group buy for ali rads, but won't be cheap.

  9. Daves16v - thanks.

I actually went to have a look prior to getting your response, as you say, the leg is about 1 inch too wide for Corrado rails. It’s crazy that similar Recaro, but from a Mk 3 are so much cheaper (only £250 asking price), but I can’t be bothered to cock around chopping subframe, especially when the seats sit too high.

  10. Years ago I bought a CAT D Corrado, with light front end damage, basically a new front wing. In every respect it was a great car, but when I came to sell it one year later I really struggled.

Whilst it puts off many buyers, it’s not a bad option if they plan to keep the car.

Just be realistic with your price (see comments above) and it will sell. Good luck

  11. Are any of really here for an investment? I know i have a Corrado because i love them. Like many of us i boarded the Corrado train a fair while ago and stash parts away like fury.

Lol - last Corrado cost me £5.5k, I then spent £1000s on it, sold it for £5.5k.

Worst deal in the world, but that didn’t stop me buying another Corrado last year - love them !!

I just wish I’d kept all the spare parts I had accumulated 10 years ago, I near enough gave it all away on eBay compared to what spares cost now (if you can find those parts) - error...

  12. Thanks Cressa,

Weirdly the top radiator hose on my car has 535121101G written on it, but ‘G’ doesn’t appear to exist anymore. Having checked OEMEPC and Classic Parts, the part number is listed as 535121101L. I was wondering if there were any differences between the hoses on early and late VRs (mine is 92)? At about £130, it’s not something I want to get wrong!

I’ve considered getting Samco silicone hoses (currently 15% off), which for a complete set works out only a liitle more that a set of equivalent OEM hoses. But not sure I want to stray from OEM.

The ones on the car are all original (I think) so have lasted pretty well after 26 years and 114k Miles. A good reason to stick with OEM.

  13. Ok people, if any of you have any new genuine vr6 coolant hoses tucked under you bed/ hidden and no longer required, could you get in touch please.

    I am after :-

    •535 121 101L - *REPLACEMENT FOUND

    •535 121 063A

    •1H0 121 073C - *REPLACEMENT FOUND

I appreciate they are obsolete now so would like to see if anyone has something they would like to sell b4 I order from VW Heritage.

Or if you know where I could get them from it will all be very appreciated, as I am spending a small fortune to replace all my old coolant parts.

    Thanks everyone

Ps No bragging saying you have it but are keeping it

    Cressa

    Cressa,

I am also hunting for hoses for my VR. Did you buy these hoses OEM or copies?

    •535 121 101L - *REPLACEMENT FOUND

    •1H0 121 073C - *REPLACEMENT FOUND

    Thanks,

  14. I never thought I’d buy a red car, always stuck to dark colours, then I bought a red VR last year. I have to say, I’ve grown to love the colour. That said, you car looks amazing and I’m loving the wheels. The fact it’s got a VSR is the icing on the cake!

I would be tempted to buy yours if/when it goes up for sale, but I suspect I would get an almighty slap from the Mrs if I bought another...

  15. Sell the Corrado and buy the Aston Martin! Corrados are great, but simply not worth the investment you're looking at. I have a 57k mile VR, but my mate just bought a 911 4s, admittedly 3x the price of my Corrado, but waaayy more than 3x the car. I'll now be getting rid of my Corrado in spring next year and getting something proper :)

I suppose each to their own - Porsche are ok, but do nothing for me.

There are several other 80s/90s cars that I like, but I’ve been a fan of the Corrado since I saw one in late 80s and nothing else that has the same appeal for me.

They will absolutely be a true classic in years to come and those selling now I suspect might kick themselves in 5-10 years?

  16. Ditto. Great price and works a treat

In fairness even the parts bloke in the Stealers was surprised at the price of the OEM lube. It's good stuff, but I wouldn’t say £32 good. I paid as I really wanted to ensure my fully functional sunroof stayed that way

I bet the £13 liqui moli does just as good job
