  1. Hi all,

I've posted this as a new thread rather than in the 24v one as it really mostly applys to a standard Corrado. I need to find an ignition live to run a feed from for a dummy to one of the R32 systems. It looks like there is nothing around the fusebox area.

Can anyone suggest to me a simple place to tap into to get an ignition live? It will be routed to the engine bay.

    Cheers,

    James

  2. I think Hydrogen was deemed a bit unsafe due to the pressures and extreme flammability involved or do you mean the cars that extract hydrogen from water?

There was a couple of reasons for not adopting Hydrogen on top of those wasn't there Kev? I think electrolysis (hydrogen from water) was so energy expensive that it wasn't viable at all! Apparently they were putting in more energy than the Hydrogen would return!

The other Hydrogen source was by cracking hydrocarbons, but then I guess they ruled that out as hydrogen was to replace hydrocarbons! (and also the byproduct was a lot of carbon possibly with attached oxygen)

But yeah the storage was a big one, tanks running at mammoth pressures under the rear seat wasn't appealing. I did read that hydrogen is notorious for leaking out too, due to being a very light element?

  3. Max,

I've just fitted a 6 branch to my R32 Corrado, and also a raceland to my old vr6 a few years ago. The mani will have to go in/out from above I'm afraid, this would also be impossible with the cat still connected. You will need to grind off those 3 nuts/bolts and separate the flange so the old mani is on it's own. Intake manifold will also have to come out, to allow access to the manifold studs and also to get the thing in.

    Hope this helps,

    James

Oh and regarding access to the top nut/bolt...

Your best bet is to undo the manifold at the head first, as there is a flexi in the standard vr6 mani, you can then twist it rearward and the manifold will then be completely disconnected. You can then allow the mani and the cat to drop and rest on the steering rack, which should give you maybe an inch or two clearance to get to that top bolt.

  4. Wow.

Just for the record, I have had iPhones and won't be buying any more, I have an S2 and hopefully will get the 3 soon. I do however understand and appreciate the tech Apple has brought to the market. Both phones are fantastic and I wouldn't say not to buy an Apple to anyone, just depends on preference. Personally I thought the new Iphone 5 was not a very substantial leap for them, and it's keeping them behind the trend drastically. With this and the past lawsuits showing true colours, I just won't go iPhone anymore, but they are both still very good.

and Sund stop being narrow minded!

Yes the S3 is awesome but let other people have their choice, you're starting to sound like a few of my friends who are in the iPhone crowd and take the **** out of my choice of phone. Competition is great, we have a lot of choice now thanks to it, and they're all good candidates!

  5. I should say I'm not disagreeing that the S3 is massive, just the mentality of some of my mates :)

It's ruddy massive mate! But that seems the trend at the moment, I doubt samsung would make their flagship phone this big unless the consumers wanted it. I for one was reluctant due to the size but reading what people say, the big screen is worth it. I thought the same when I was gonna buy my S2. Any bigger though and I'd probably not bother, lets hope this is about it!

  6. I agree with all the comments regarding the Samsungs, they're just unrivalled at present. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I get severely irritated by friends of mine who mock me and a few others for our S2/S3 phones.

"look at that its ****ing huge! Should've got an iPhone mate"

Just. no. It just seems like a lot of people I know are ignorant to the fact there are other phones out there that are just as good if not better!

The S2 is an awesome phone and so is the S3, the iPhone 5 will need to be an immense improvement to scratch the samsungs. I was initially prepared to consider an iPhone 5 as my upcoming upgrade, but since the whole lawsuit business my mind has been made. I don't care how good the 5 is (and I don't expect it will be groundbreaking!) I'm just not going back, I had iPhones and did think they were good, but the competition is doing an awesome job now. Judging by other comments online, Apple (and I agree) seem to be doing more harm than good by taking competitors to court. It's just hurting their reputation to the consumers!

  7. Yours felt quicker than 224hp to me mate!

You have the same issue as me in that the ECU is restricting the power because it's not happy about missing ancillery components / communications. But the fact you're only 20 odd hp down on standard goes to show what a good management system it is, in spite of the issues!

Yeah, I wonder what the solution is! I was expecting to be near OEM levels, this is a bit far short. I can't see anything blatantly obvious ( and I hope you'd agree) on vagcom or visually that would cause that much below par. Those problems with extra modules not being detected are present on every R32 conversion, I wonder how others got OEM power?

Would the air filter location bleed some HP too Kev? It's not exactly drawing all it's air from through the rad but it's close.

Not bad results. Mine was down on power too could this be the same reason as Kev mentioned?

But Im surprised the R32 hasnt got a lot of torque? Thats the same figure I got out of my 2.8 24v. 220 lbft

It should have mate, just my management is not giving it the full amount. Expected values are around 250 hp and lb/ft but as you can see mine has fallen short, investigation is under way, I hope it's something small (and not too expensive!)
