  1. Evening All, It's been a little while since posting. I've been busy preparing another car for sale and it just went off to the new owner tonight... So, back to my lovely Corrado :) Feels good to get back to work on it as I've done very little of late and don't want to leave it neglected any longer! I need to get the driver's side wishbone out and I'm going to remove the sump to do it as the gasket is leaking. I looked on vwspares.co.uk for the gasket and there are two, a rubber one and a composite. Can either be used? I've read a few posts on here recommending the rubber one? My car is a chassis number for the composite one... Halfway down this page: https://www.vwspares.co.uk/VW_Corrado_Engine-Gaskets.php?model=2.9%20VR6 Also, to do the wishbone bushes I was going to buy a 20 tonne press off eBay. A bit of outlay but will be useful in the future for other bushes and wheel bearings etc. Does anyone have advice on these? Are there any to avoid or specific types that would serve me well?
  2. Afternoon All, So the new B4s arrived and I'm hoping to get them on the car next weekend. Anyone have any tips on how best to torque them up without risking of rounding the allen key fitment at the top? It's a 6mm key but it's not exactly a snug fitting... I fitted my replacement splitter after giving it some paint on Thursday. But while I was busy around the car, I noticed that the rubber seals along the edge of the front / rear windows (I think they're called scraper seals??) are starting to deteriorate / crack up a bit. The car has been outside, up on stands all winter so hasn't been away from the elements. I'm hoping to build a garage at some point this year, but if things don't go to plan it may be parked up outside next winter too... Anyone have suggestions on good products to treat / look after the seals? Cheers all, Cluffy
  3. Yeah, I'm on it changing the wishbone bushes too at the minute so leaning that way very very much. Rears all done jut before I bought in late 2016. Now is the time...
  4. No luck so far sorting the strut. Bit closer after grinding some of it away but will need more effort with a file if I'm to sort it... I have a question which may have an obvious answer for some... Were original VR6 front shocks oil filled or gas filled, ie should they extend under no load? Mine don't (anymore?) and as one is obviously damaged, I wonder if I just need to bite the bullet on two new B4s...

Hi, where are you based? I have a replacement set for my car which I hope to swap my tyres off the old ones on to in the next couple of weeks. I'm based in Southam, Warwickshire. If you're anywhere near you could have my old ones for refurbishing? They're not brilliant but look better than those Gumtree ones. EMail me at [email protected] if at all interested. Cluffy (Kieran)
  6. That's a good idea with the mole grips which I tried. My main toolchest is at a mates so will get that back and give it a go with better tools. Don't have a grinder but know someone with one. That's probably the best option if the metal isn't too weak... Really annoying, especially as I was in no rush and took my time cleaning and painting everything up as I went over the last week or so...!!
  7. Evening all, Miffed doesn't cover it - I'm refurbishing the suspension with new boots, bearings and top mount bushes (Struts and Springs OK and I don't like replacing things that work just because they're old). Anyway, tightening the top nut onto the new bearing on one strut and the 7mm allen bit has slipped or gripped or who knows what and the thread has split and bent out about 6-7mm from the top of the strut. No way to get the strut apart again without chopping the top of with a grinder. A bit worried about doing that. Anyone have any tips/thoughts/advice. I need a beer....
  8. Speed Clips! I knew there was a name for them! Thanks for the prompt :)
  9. I'm after the screws (3x each side) that hold the splitter to the main part of the bumper. I've removed the five bolts on the front with no problem...
  10. Evening All, My car is off the road again and up on stands (for a variety of reasons - joy!) Anyway, today I tried getting the front splitter off as I have a replacement to go on. However some of the screws are seized. I'll get them off by drilling / extracting etc... Does anyone know if the correct size screw and locater/clip are available to buy? I had a look at the Bentley Manual but didn't easily find a part number. I guess any screw and clip combo will do but you know with OEM that it'll definitely fit...! Cheers all, Cluffy
  11. OK thanks, I'd take a more detailed look in the daylight over the weekend! Looks like I either have a bodge (that doesn't work!!) or there has been another wire added in place of the grey one and perhaps the tailgate switch no longer works...
  12. Evening All, Managed to find some fasteners that would do the job so just waiting for delivery. Hope to have these bits done soon. In my quest to sort these niggly broken things, I now need to sort the boot light. The light hasn't worked since I got the car. I thought it was just some poor wiring bodge but I've pulled it out tonight and found a red wire and black+grey wires taped together. Removing the tape I've found that the red and black wires have crimped connectors on them that will fit on the light housing (the grey wire is taped up on the end separately) but when I connect these up (leaving the grey wire hanging, the light still doesn't work (with a new bulb in just in case). Does anyone have a wiring diagram or can anyone explain to me what the three wires should do/how it should fit together?? Cheers in advance, Cluffy
  13. Evening All, I've been doing a bit of interior work on the car recently. I've had both of the C Pillar covers off to repair them as the vinyl was peeling. Anyway, in removing the rear speaker covers I needed to remove the plastic split pieces of trim that go around the rear seat belt (535868527/8). They screw in through the edge of the back door cards but I appear to have lost both captive elements for the screws to drive in to... Can anyone help or know where get these from? I'm sure I just need a generic captive fastener - can anyone confirm the size? I'd put up a picture but I have issues with Photobucket and this site at the minute... Also, I took my door cards off for a couple of repairs and on one side I have some tiny screw head covers. Very neat (don't know if they are OEM?). Anyway, I'd like to get some more to do both sides when I put the cards back on. If they are OEM can someone tell me where I can get them from? I've had a bit of a look online to no avail... Cheers all, Cluffy
  14. Hi, Do you still have the six fuel injectors? If so, how much including delivery please? Where in Staffs are you? Thanks, Kieran
  15. Yeah - just been reading a couple of threads. I'm going to see what Stealth recommend. I dont want to ruin the ride but I would like to drop the car a smidge. A set of Eibach shorter dprings seem to be about £140 and new front shocks about £60 each so that's £260 all in versus about £380 for the coilovers. Back to the misfire / rough running issue and I fitted Sean's HT leads today and after a run I'm very confident that has sorted the problem! Can anyone advise on whether they've bought the handmade 8mm/8.5mm from the chappy off eBay? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLUE-8MM-PERFORMANCE-IGNITION-LEADS-FOR-OBD1-VW-GOLF-CORRADO-VR6-PASSAT-QUALITY/121359037771?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Dc70290d215544101b88754accacaf154%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D111376024327%26itm%3D121359037771&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A20e09f5a-92a9-11e8-895a-74dbd1800b0a%7Cparentrq%3Ae2b0781b1640ab455a2007eafffc25e3%7Ciid%3A1 A lot less than a set of Magnecor leads and having a rough running car with an "OEM" set from vwspares recently, I want to go with something substantial for the spark for the car... Cheers!
