does anyone have a corrado that doesnt break?
Danny Ess replied to Danny Ess's topic in General Car Chat
dont want to start a mass debate but would it be worth to just get a nice and clean 16v rather than hoping to get a vr6 due to insurance reasons? -

yeah i know about the age thing but everyones just seems to break. my mk1 never broke and that was 28 years old. Just seems that corrado owners seem to make more of a deal of it as you hear about them breaking more :D -

yeah that's what i mean. just like everything in life everyone tells people the bad stuff so thats what everyone listens too i guess. I think now is the time for me to get a corrado and get it out of my system. Had a mk2 before so thats going down the easy route. Just got to find a nice corrado i think -

why where abouts are you? :D SIlly thing is ive never actually been in a corrado just like the look of them. And im realistically after a g60 or a VR6. There are a few nice 16vs knocking about but i just think they're going to be really slow, but i think im going to be comparing it to my ABF mk1 which was pretty fast. -
I've been after a corrado for the past couple of years. However i bought a MK1, ABF'd it and i sold it yesterday. Been looking at corrados but everyone is telling me to steer clear because they break alot. I hardly ever hear about peoples corrados that are reliable and that rarely need bits buying for them. Was at a meet on thursday and a mate told me that i shouldnt worry about a corrado breaking because i had a mk1 which are even worse for breaking but mine, i 18 months must have broke about 2 times, if that, mainly cause it was a good example of one. So now i'm carless with abit of money im deciding which car to get. It's between a corrado and a special mk2. Just theres never (m)any stories of peoples corrados lasting for long and not breaking and it doesnt give me much confidence in buying one :( and with nearly every single corrado at the other ends of the country from where i am its abit hard to go and just look at one in london (for example) and find out its crap as it could start costing me loads that way. I know they are getting on for 20 years old now but the mk1 was 28 and was fine :D So put some confidence in me please before i buy a mk2 :D

doesnt the 16vg60 cost a hell of a lot though? :D I guess i could price up the cost of a respray against a conversion but means its a full respray which is going to cost even more.

Right, I want a g60, however they nearly all seem to be in the blue colour which i dont really want. I really want the purple/blackberry colour but they dont come in them. So Would getting a 16v and then use that for abit and then find a g60 engine be viable? Or would it just not be worth it? Seems the only way really and DBP dont really come up often do they? :D

how do you know he had no license?

right i dont really want people telling me they (or any other corrado) will break down all the time, il spend most of my time fixing it etc, i just want some ideas of what they're like. My last 2 cars were a 1.6 mk2 driver and then a 1.6 mk1 gti which were both mechanically sound and didnt cause too much trouble, were quite easy to work on if something went wrong and no strange parts to them. now this brings me onto the g60. Obviouslyi have never had a car with a supercharger so i just want to know do i have to do anything from the normal to keep that happy and just general maintenance of the engine? obviously a service etc but more to do with the charger. I dont have much clue about how to look after one. these sound like totally stupid questions but just want to know really.

eeek that doesnt look safe. you have 2 big holes instead of a little hole now :/ -
gotta find a dbp first though :D
-
wondering where my thread went. sorry it was in the wrong section. no one seems to sell purple ones :D most are blue :(
-
not seen many DBP for sale :/ does look nice though
-
its more the cost of buying a VR thats the problem.
-
well annoyed :D i really want a blackberry corrado. however i want a g60. i dont want a VR6 as i cant afford one. would make things a whole lost easier if they did g60s in blackberry :D think its abit extreme getting a 16v and then putting a g60 in it.

TH Lines suit this to the ground. looks awesome. -
there is no scandal ffs. look at both toyotas times. both slow because they stayed on dry tyres. One part of the track was wetter thats why he lost so much time. you saw at the start of the race that the finish straight and surrounding parts were wet while the back of the circuit was dry. Lewis was always going to finish 5th. if Glock had come in then he would have been behind him and as he stayed out he was still behind him. Well done lewis though. great race.

Just done a few quotes on confused to get a general feeling of what insurance is like. for the 2l 16v and the VR. the VR was a few hundred dearer with wheels and suspension declared but that was only with the mainstream people, may come down with brentacre etc. Just the initital cost of a VR is quite alot more than a 16v or a G60. also what MPG do people get on VR6'? is it about high 20s? Or say £20 a week which doesnt seem that bad how far does that normally get people? And how much does it cost for people to fill up a full tank if petrol was 109p? ta

yeah i guess you're right. see how i get on with the 16v first. but why are they all red :( i dont want another red car :D
