Thanks Ant, hopefully I'll be able to get it changed this weekend :D Are you going to AmD? Nigel- good idea about the bleaching- may give that a go before paying out for a new one.
-
I've done the mod (without the ducting- couldn't be arsed). I've got a K & N in and I can honestly say there has been no difference to the mpg. I still get up around 40 mpg on long journeys and 25-35 on shorter ones.
-
Need to fit a new one. Looks pretty straight forward to do- any tips? Anyone done this? Cheers
-
Anyone going to AmD via Burford? Wanna meet up on the way?
-
That's a shame :( You're more than welcome to be a passenger- maybe you can help me find where my rattle is coming from! :D
-
Grugh, don't worry about your mota, mate! Mine needs stuff done to it too to make it look A1. The more the better! Jim, if you're fully comp, you're welcome to have a spin :D
-
Nice one, Jim - maybe we could all meet by the Saxo, as it'll be easy to find  . I'm looking forward to putting a few faces to names.

Anyone going? Anyone going via Burford?

Tom, insurance depends who you're with, with regard to any mods. Some insurance companies aren't too bothered by mods, but others are really strict. Shop around, get some quotes and play them off each other. From memory, I had to pay about £150 extra because of my chip/pulley, but it could possibly be a lot more for you considering your age :? If the quotes are high for chips etc, try and get yourself a standard G60 which has had a Stage 2 overhaul, which doesn't include the chip/pulley. Have a look at jabbasport.co.uk for all the different options for an overhaul.
-
If you go for a G60, make sure it's already had a charger overhaul from a reputable garage (Jabbasport or PD etc). Make sure it has the certificate! If it hasn't been done, then budget for it (around £3-500, depending on what Stage rebuild you go for) and get it done asap. Taking into account your age/budget I would go for a good G60. Insurance will be high, but for a VR6 it would be considerably more. Happy hunting!

The sound certainly isn't a creaking sound. Under normal driving it's a very light metallic sound, kind of like someone jangling keys. Then when I turn a corner (it's actually when I'm turning left  ) it becomes louder and more of a clanky knocking - still not very loud though. Sounds a bit like an empty can of drink tied under the car. Definately coming from front left. Had the wheel off and couldn't find anything- I need a set of ramps!
-
Cheers mate, hope that's all it is!

:? is this expensive to fix?
-
The car has developed a strange 'metallic' kind of rattle. It rattles very quietly in normal driving, but when I turn right it gets louder and a bit clanky. Sounds like it's coming from the front passenger side. Had a look, but can't see anything loose :? It's starting to bug me! What could it be? Something touching the wheel when it's turned? If I get time I'll take the wheel off tonight. Any ideas? Thanks

Kev, VTEC in the EG VTI was excellent. It was like a completely different car after 5500 revs. It sounded brilliant, and was pretty quick. Downside was it was difficult to keep it in the 'zone', and just got tiring after a while. The steering was also very light and the lack of torque at higher speeds was really annoying. It could beat pretty much anything of the lights, but would really struggle after about 80mph. A fun car, but wouldn't get one again.

Just had a quick look at the thread on Honda Revolutions, and most of the replies are very positive towards the C :D . Good to see a couple of us have also posted on there! As Jim said earlier, the Honda vs VW animosity really doesn't happen much here compared to in the States. We've got Novas, Corsas, Fiestas etc to cope with instead.

Hey, I used to have a Civic VTI, and it was actually a really nice, quick car! It looked great, drove great, and I'm sure if I still had it, I wouldn't have had to spend a anything on it putting it right. However, it wasn't a Corrado, and although VTEC is great it just couldn't come close to the C for driving experience, or for that matter, looks. Gotta say, I would consider getting an Integra Type-R in the future.

Noticed a very tidy green L-reg 2.0 16v at the local stealers today in Canterbury. Went and had a quick look, and it's very tidy. Only done 48K, wheels look new etc. £5995 is a bit steep, but it's in really good nick and would come with VW warranty etc. First one I've ever seen at a stealer, and it's very nice too! So if anyone in the south east is after a 16v, go and have a look 'cos it probably won't be there very long.
-
Stunning, mate! Gotta be one of the nicest C's I've seen 8)
-
That's really crap news, Jim. You have my sympathies! What's wrong with these little sh*ts?
-
Actually, could be a different car... Gotta admire the ingenuity :?

Here's the beautiful bum of the 80's Lada prototype
-
Quite like it, apart from the rims and the extra rear spoiler :? Looks like a good job. Love those front spoilers! Thought about getting one, but think it would fall off after a few days due to the speed bumps around here :(
-
Yeh, don't think it's the battery 'cos my battery is only a few months old and everything else works fine. Like Andi said before, looks like it's something to do with the permanent live/loose connection. Can't really afford to get it checked professionally at the mo', but not confident enough with the electrics to have a go myself. :?

As you look into the engine bay, it is a small metal cylinder level with the top/right of the engine, above the dizzy. From memory it has 3 pipes going into it (2 at the front, one at the back, and an electical plug/sensor. To remove it, you simply undo the clips etc. Check the pipes for fitment/splits/damage etc. Spray the inside of the ISV with carb cleaner (put masking tape over the electrical socket). Be very liberal! You can soak it in carb cleaner or petrol- the longer the better! Hope this helps :) I'm sure someone can explain it better and provide a pic! :?
