However, I did manage to pick up a wee present for the almost forgotten about Storm........ supposedly the last one cast and it’ll need a few of the holes drilling etc, so it’s another project to go on the list. I might just look at it instead of actually using it 🤣
Looks great.
I hate you.
Bye!

It could be this?

or perhaps 19, but I can't find that anywhere

Do you mean these? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK3-32mm-Floor-Pan-Chassis-Bung-Plug-Grommet-8v-16v-GTI-VR6-Genuine-VW/151894194188?hash=item235d99780c:g:OacAAOSwXy1bxQMP

I've 1000s of photos particularly of hard to see parts of the car if anyone ever needs a view of how the factory put something together.
I've been thinking about setting up a blog for the rebuild process... Or I'll just carry on here 🙂
Definitely a blog, then cross post it here when you have updates. Then you don't at the whim of someone archiving all the images during a forum version migration and not migrating the content across 🙂

Great idea, just need to find a bolloxed compressor haha

Not sure if theres anyone nearby to NW London with a boosted VR? What about maintenance and issues relate to that? One of my concersn was that the turbo with the extra power would have a lot more reliability issues, whereas the supercharger was better in that regard.
Yes, i'm a bit uncomfortable with hacking anything on the car that is hard to reverse - in fact even down to screwing things into trims etc!
Sorry I didn't see this before. I've done all the research and am in the middle of fitting a rotrex myself.
The exact reason I chose rotrex was because there's no hacking. You don't need to tap the oil sump it has it's own rad with plumbing so is literally plug in.
They say the bottom end can handle the boost so I'm not too worried about that, but it will make any current problems with your head and their associated bolts, and gaskets very obvious that there's problems around.
Narrator: Culshaws engine is going to pop.

Has anyone seen anything like this in the UK?
It seems I need to strap one on to get my rotrex working, the belt I have is +air-con length, and I want to make sure it goes around all the pulleys correctly as intended.
-
I've got a spare, just wanted to avoid the faff of detaching the pulley and lining it up correct (it's on supercharger mount)
-
Hi all,
I put too much shoulder into my tensioner and didn't see it fouling a bolt and it cracked the case.
Does it need replacing or is it only serving the arm of releasing the tension to the pulley?
I don't want to put any tension onto the belt if it's going to rip the casing apart and put metal all down the pulleys

32 miles later and it really has transformed it. I did not believe it could make such a difference, so highly recommended .
How about 2nd into first while going about 5mph, mine gives a lovely clunk that the whole street can hear.

I'm curious how it passed the MOT. My last place seemed to pass my golf with flying colours, yet this year a new garage gave me a screenplay of things to fix. Worried me a bit

around £130 after getting refund for caliper surcharge (£36 per side)

I've just done this on my mk4, I needed both rear calipers and got them from eurocarparts. Replacements came as reconditioned VW ones. Pot luck got lucky I guess.

coilpack
they come with cables for both IIRC. I have a spare lead which I don’t need

I got a set of mr-retro ones. They're good. Not 8mm though, 7mm so they will fit in the plastic guides.

Where do everyone get their replacements from? I have a lovely rattle that I think may be chains.
VW (tps) are closed for retail and even still they only have half the parts available. The other half are NLA.

PM also sent.

Febi ones were very similar, same ends but a metal part where it slides into the tubes before going into the bodyTRW GCH1656 £50 delivered for the pair, as you require two of the same part
Febi 14274 £20 delivered for the pair.
To be honest I just wanted to compare the two brands and see if they were both the correct length. The both seemed pretty much the same as the original one that came offI've done this dance recently, I got one (and maybe the last, I can't remember) one from VW last year, and also picked up one which is still hanging in the garage in a blue bag, a Pagid one but it was much longer than the VW one.

Looks great
Is the windscreen going in last, or are you going for that, hair in the wind look?

Resurrecting this bad boy.
I found a thread where they are demonstrating the seal from vintage rubber. https://forums.mwerks.com/showthread.php?5616806-535853355A-Corrado-rubber-strip-rear-window-satin-black

Hopefully this comes to the UK with a similar discount (total $6.99 for those in the US right now)
This is a great thing if you wish to keep an OE headunit which has an aux-in.
